Neon underbody

I was just wondering what does everyone else use to make the underbody of cars glow (streetglow, etc.)
I use LED bulbs attached to batteries and then i attach them under the car.
The same question to make the headlights and taillights work.

PS: i always have to connect or disconnect the batteries to turn the lights on and off. where do you guys get switches and how do you wire it or place them or anything related to this subject.

I use LEDs also for headlights, tailights, underglow- and so doesnt all the other people I know. You can get switches at your local RadioShack and maybe hardware stores. They are easy to wire, just stick the ends of the 2 wires into the slot provided or the wires will twist onto posts that are on the bottom part of the switch.

i bought some LED's a while back, but i forgot to get resistors, anyone know what size i need?

You dont really need resistors to run the LEDs. You can run the LEDs straight off the battery (aka cell) but the LEDs or the cell may over heat even if only used for a few minutes. And if you would like to add resistors to the circuit, the amount of resistance depends on what the specs of the LED is, amount of current being used, and how long you would like the LEDs on, so until you know all of those factors you are pretty much stuck with just running them straight off the cell.

Buying a kit is going to be hard.

Tonight I was over at my uncles talkin' to him about my hot rod project. He was wiring up some LED's and stuff for his younger son. I asked if he could do mine for my hot rod, he replied "The best way to learn is to smoke a few wires, and fry a few bulbs/LED's". Thats how he got as good as he is.

I tend to take a more calulated way when dealing with the LEDs. Infact we were discussing LEDs in my electronics class today. But I will admit just buying some and trying different things out is a good way to learn, just make sure you got enough wire, it sucks when you just barely dont have enough wire to finish a project
