hey dude...im not exactly qualified to be a mechanic...but i did have that exact problem...the solution basically is to take it to the dealer or shop that you got it at unless you find another way. Those two lights were on in my car and the 02 sensor in the exhaust was out....so as the ets is control for the transmission...the toggle switch and the actual ets will be killed in result of the malfunction hope i helped

Hey Jeff, thanks for the info.I was looking at the Haynes Manual and there are 2 O2 sensors, one is mounted in the Exhaust Manifold and the other is mounted in the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter.I presume you are talking about the one in the exhaust pipe. Please confirm.Thank you.znfs.

Re: Pontiac Sunfire 97 2.4L Engine.

the ets off light is usually an indication that the abs computer has detected a wheel speed sensor out of range, due either to a bad sensor at a wheel, or excessive wheel spin at start.

to be honest it could be either of these....the manifold could be the problem or the one after the catalytic converter...im not sure of a manual fix because the way i was showed was by a handheld computer board plugged into a port under the steering wheel...this little thing checks all the sensor indications
