Question Where do I go?

I'm a newbie to this forum and I must say I am completely overwhelmed with the information thats on here. It sounds like you guys really know what you are talking about but unfortunately I am inept when it comes to car technical jargon. Where does someone such as myself go to learn about pullies, pistons, and all this other stuff I'm reading about on here. This way when I read posts I can actually know whats going on and whats being suggested, as it stands I have no clue. Please Help any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank You

First of all WELCOME!

To find answers try doing a search on the web for stuff you wanna know about or just keep reading posts eventually you will be able to figure stuff out. if you wanna know how your engine works and stuff like that go to howstuffworks.com they will tell you all about car stuff and about anything else on this planet. Use the web there is tons of info out there you just have to find it. I was once in your place and I am still learning but I know a lot more about cars now than I did before I joined. Good Luck and don't be afraid to ask questions here if you can't find what you are looking for on the web and remember use the search tool for the forums chances are someone has had the same question before. Hope this all helps!!

welcome to the club-

I too was a newbie a while ago and since joining I've found a wealth of information regarding the G20.

In fact, I now am VERY VERY happy that I bought a G20 because of this forum. I don't know too many forums that are out there for the other kinds of cars that I was looking to purchase so, this forum is great for me. (I was considering a late 80s mercedes 190E, an early 90s Q45, a subaru impreza, a 97 honda accord LX< [has tons of info about it- however the car is too common and everyone and their dog knows how to break into one w/o setting off the alarm and stuff])

The people are nice on here too. If you ever make your way out to a meet (car get together) you'll meet other owners who have been toying with their cars for a while and totally cool information like...

PUTTING IN 95-99 CHEVY CAVALIER FRONT SPEAKER ADAPTERS THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE FROM BEST BUY SO THAT YOU CAN USE THEM IN YOUR G20 AND HAVE 6.5 INCH SPEAKERS IN YOUR FRONT DOORS!!!!!!

Seriously, who would have thought about that?

Browse the forums and you'll learn lots...

i definitely second stogie's recommendation of howstuffworks.com they have some great info on cars..u need to start from the beginning..as in learning the basics of the 4 stroke engine and that is a great place to learn..also check out familycar.com..there is a wealth of information to be learned and there r so many people out there who own cars that don't know the first thing about them..i find it depressing the way people treat their cars but anyways as long as ur interest is there the information will be there too...good luck and welcome

How about checking out the local library? You should be able to find plenty of books on the basics of the internal combustion engine. Once you've got that down, you can check out books on suspension and handling or performance/turbos/whatever. If you can't find what you're looking for at the library hop on Amazon.com and spend $30 on a few books. Not only will you learn a lot, but you'll have a reference to refer to later on when you start making changes to your car.

BTW: I'm currently reading Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. Good book, but some of the stuff he says is way too cut and dry.
