Turbo Question

This question is in regards to the DET install they didi on P10DET's car a few months back in Sport Compact Car. I was wondering if there was a notable difference in the extrude honing that was done to the manifold and also if the swain tech coatings were also worth it? Also, about how much did it run and where can I find a reputable place to do it. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think George (P10DET wrote the article) will tell you they are both worth it. Do a web search in www.google.com for both swain and extrude hone and you'll find your contact numbers. Or if you have the article they should have a bunch of companies listed at the end of the article. Extrude Hone and Swain should be in there.

The turbo spools up a lot faster with those mods. I think its around 2500rpm instead of 3000rpm or something like that.

I think they are worth it. If you drove the car, you would be amazed at how seamlessly the turbo kicks in. I cannot even tell you when it begins to build boost because it's so smooth.

The passages before and after the Extrude Honing is really impressive. I was a little skeptical until I saw the stuff. Oh *man*. The EHing will help the turbo spool quicker.

The Swain coating not only helps the turbo spool more quickly by keeping the heat in the manifold, but it also keeps under hood temps way down. My car is no hottter under the hood than my car was NA with the header. I'm deadly serious. Good stuff.
