Question Question Time

the above picture shows two builds of the same model (mine at the top and someonelses below).

The question is - [i] Should I take off the mirrors, spoiler and windows then clearcoat it and polish or should I just leave it as is?

I'd take them all off before clearcoating...

Don't bother with clear on a race car! If you look at the ads on a real race car you'll see they aren't sealed to the paint, and have a different sheen to them than the paint or the other ads. Besides, race cars would never stay clean long enough for anyone to know the difference.

Clear coat is good on decals to keep them looking nice and new. If you dont clear coat, later on the decals can start to fade and peal off.

I've only done it once and it melted the decals

Its really up to you

looks like I will leave that one as is, and clear coat the next before the decals go on (don't want to melt them )
