Just bought 98 GT...What to do?

I just bought a 98 GT 5 spd with 80,000 miles on it. I'm incredibly happy with the car. It's allready got flowmaster 40 series exhaust, and a hollowed h pipe, and K&N dropin. What should I do next? Headers is logically next, but what brand? And what brand for roller cams / hydrolic lifters? Thanks guys

I'll post some pics when i get em

cams and followers (no 'lifters' per se in an OHC motor) are very expensive for those motors. i'd give Comp Cams a call and see what they can do for you. probably wont' be necessary. lots of guys out there are making sick power with stock cams. i've heard that upgrading to roller followers can net you gains of 40-50 horse in a mod motor.

BBK is pretty much 'the name' in terms of bolt-on aftermarket exhaust for mustangs. if you switch to an offroad x-pipe you'll gain power but it might not sound as good. also, long-tubes are soemthign to consider. you can put a system like that together for less than 500 dollars if memory serves.

is your car a stick? if so does it have a short throw shifter? if not, that's a good upgrade.

no such thing as 3.75 gears, 3.73 is what you're referring to.

steeda makes a good clutch cable kit.

tons of upgrades available. just browse a summit catalog, or the first 10 pages or so of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords.

If you're gonna do gears, go with AT LEAST 3.73s. Or even a 4.10. 3.55 is nothing.

Here's an idea...use it as a trade in for a 2005 Stang.

Re: Just bought 98 GT...What to do?

Drive it for a couple of months. Get a feel for it! Make sure it's running like clockwork!! Then... start modifying it (headers, gears, pullies, etc..,) IMO!
