Sticky Performance Tires

I just got my new chrome Cobra 03 17x9 wheels and they look sweet. Now I need to buy some rubber to put around them. I am looking for sticky tires for the 1/4 mile that can also be driven on the street. I narrowed the search to the following:

Brand Nitto
Rear NT 555R "Drag Radial" 275x40x17
front NT 555 "Extreme ZR" 255x40x17

Let me know the good, bad, or the ugly with this pick as well as alternatives.

Thanks.

Re: Sticky Performance Tires

those tires wear out extremely quick, but they are very high performance. i have yokohama avs es 100s. they hook up well and last a good bit as well.

Re: Sticky Performance Tires

My 555's (285X35X18), no R, on the back have lasted fairly well considering how I drive, lots of track time, doughnuts, street races. I now have G-Force T/A KDW (245X40X18) on the front and they're doing well.

I just bought the Bf Goodrich G-force T/A drag radials..... THey are sticky just "feeling" them.....

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...tp=Competition

I have yet to put them on (car in shop). But you can't beat the price for P205 40R-17's --$136..You may need a wider size.

These I can replace wiout feeling to drained in the pocket book for the type of tire.....

Also, the 275 tread width (may be proper for 17X9's?) may be a bit much....don't go to wide on them or you will get a bit unstable.....too much excess rubber...?

It doesn't matter what company DR's are not gonna last long on a daily driver. The two big DR's for stangs would be the Nitto's and the BFG's. The BFG DR's are a little stickier but last a lil less than the Nitto 555R.

Thanks. I ordered the Nitto's today through Discount, they gave me a good deal + they'll credit me $300 for my current rubber and stock wheels. Hopefully I'll get some good whether to test out the DR's at the track.
