putty for REAL cars?

can i use the epoxy putty that is used for cars, boats, etc...? is it the same thing? im having a problem finding epoxy putty at model stores. ive been to 3 stores and none of them have the kind of putty im looking for. the closest a store came to what i need was the plastic sheet.

you won't know untill you try, only problem that could happen is that it is not fine enough but with a sand paper it could be resolved. Try it on a piece of sprue to see if it sticks well enough.

Already tried and failed. The car putty was cracking for a unknown reason... had to strip all that out using a drilling tool... what a mess !!

one more question. if i go with the milliput standard grain(red and white box) how will 4 oz last me?

I have used many automobile putty, and once I tyed the tamiya one, I saw that auto stuff was crap for medelling

once again, go to your modelling store and get some 5$ putty

Evercoat eurosoft, goto a automotive paint store and buy a can (hardener too). About $20 but it will last forever and does not go bad in the can.
The problem with most non-hobby epoxy putty is it is just not a very fine grain and sets up too hard to be workable. Oh yea, it takes at least eight hours to set too!

i searched for it and on the can it says polyester. is that the stuff with the toulene or whatever that is poisonous. i wanna stay away from dangerous stuff. but if it is safe to use and works well enough for bodykit making i can try it.

I guess you better give up modelling them as all the paints and glues are toxic if you read the package, and you might cut yourself with that nasty exacto knife

last time i cut myself was when i was making a slingshot. paints are ok because i wear gloves. is 4oz a lot of putty?

I bet those gloves protect your lungs really well from the fumes.
Anyhow in my book 4oz is not much for the money compared to a whole quart of the Evercoat.
However if you don't go nuts amking bondo bombs 4oz should last a bit
