Post Heads up to funky headlights...

I have been hearing about the Toronto Police cracking down on cars with the funky blue headlights. I don't know exactly what is acceptable to them ..but a few of my friends have been stopped for having lights that are coloured blue. Which they were indeed. The fine is $110 CDN.

I have Catz in mine ..and they look similar to the Acura TLs or the Infiniti I30s. I am hoping that because it is a luxury car ..one of the pluses of having the name brand infiniti, they will accept it for stock.

We'll see.

FYI

If they are the imitation HID lights or ultra white lights, they shouldn't give you a proble. However, they aren't meant for everyday use, but people still use them. Unless, they are exaggerated in color meaning really blue or red and whatnot, I wouldn't worry.

The blue lights that are used by some of the cars here are really really......REALLY BLUE !!!!
I dont know what type etc they are, but from a distance they are very close to the blue that are on cop cars.
I always thought that you where not allowed any other colour but white at the front of your car ????.

Hydro Whites I think have about 90% white and 10% blue. I think that is the limit you can go. Anything above 10% blue is considered illegal. Projecter lights are also considered illegal.

...not "really". most companies who produce them dont go through the legal aspects of getting them DOT certified. basically all it means is they dont want to spend a ton of money to get proper licenses from the DOT that says they are up to specs and provide enough light while you drive. ...that doesnt mean that the concept of projector lights is illegal.. in fact most car manufactures are all coming out with projector equipped headlights in their new car designs...

the likely hood of getting a ticket for non-DOT approved headlight assemblies is about as likely as all of us winning the lottery tomorrow.

now bulbs are a different story.. if they look blue in color or any other color you can easily get a ticket...
