power antenna for p10? Cheap?

Where can we get a cheap or "universal" replacement for the p10 (1992 g20) I posted this same thing in Audio, but I realized that I'm also interested in the asethetics of it, because I'd liek to try and get a black mast (my car is black) and so that falls under the "exterior" heading for these groups.

Also....Does anybodu have experience with Roof mount antennas cost/model/installation $ etc...

TIA

I have been trying to get answers to both these question. I founs a post on SE-R FAQ where someone did the rrof mount on a 200 SX.

No one in Miami, that I have found anyway wil do it becuase the are afraid to mess up the roof lining. I may take the plunge and do it myself.

I soooooo want to do a Vdub roof-mounted antenna... it's not like I even have the old antenna on my trunk anymore. I disconnected it when I removed the rear amp...

I think my friend may have done a roof-mounted Vdub antenna-type thing on his g/f's Sentra GXE. It's a 1997 I think, but I'm not sure. Anyhoo, next time I"m home from school I might just ask him. Heck, I know he's browsed our Vdub board, but he's more of a VWVortex guy.

As for power antenna replacements, they aren't cheap. Even PepBoy's easy fix replacement was over $40. And that was just for the antenna... it wasn't powered.

I replaced the powered antenna on my 94 G and I did the factory ant. cause I wanted it to still be electric, it was about $140.00..... But, like saturntangerine said, even the pep boys ones are 40-50.. might as well go factory and do it right!

Usa a Universal from any automotive store

My Antena froze in a half mast. I kept hearing a cluncking noise when I turned the car off until I found that the antena motor kept trying to retract when the engine was turned off. I disconnected the power leads until I could locate a replacement. 3 Months of searching and a $140 price tag was the best i found. So I removed the entire power unit from the car. I bought a cheat $35 unit from wal-mart and found that all the internal parts are the same. Event the tip can be removed by unscrewing it and swap it out. It takes time to figure out what is wrong but it's worth it. Oh any you will get that lith. grease all over the place so get several rags handy.

antennae

i replaced the antenna in a g20 easily and cheaply... 45 bucks... just go to a used auto parts place or you pull'em place and find one... they simple plug in but watch out and you start pulling off the different drainage hoses... some of those are glued on...and you may have to cut off and get some tubing to connecting it back to the car... you'll see what I mean once you look at it...

takes 2-3 hours...

you can always take off the antennae nuts and pull the antennae out upon starting of radio.... i dont' recommend putting a new antennae and cable into that since there will be broken pieces of plastic in there...
hard to explain... replace whole unit....instead
