Re: 1992 Chevy Corvette -- need help on installation for power antenna

Senorita,
the antenna is a real bear on the C-4, I got to change the one on my father's! There are 3 bolts that attach the power unit to a base plate that is really easy to bend out of proper alingment. the best way to tackle the job is to get the car as high off the ground as you can, ( a lift would be great) use plenty of light, and get some liquid wrench or other lubricant that helps break the fasteners loose. My knuckles still hurt.

Does the antenna motor actually work? Cause a lot of the problems with the power antennas is the plastic gear tube strips or breaks causing the antenna to appear inop when all you need is a mast. If this is the case I can tell you how to replace just the mast.

Re: 1992 Chevy Corvette -- need help on installation for power antenna

I can hear my motor running, but the antenna doesnt move. Even when I turn the ignition switch off, so, I had to pull the fuse out, to prevent a dead battery or motor. So, I think its gonna be the mast. Could u please tell me how to replace that? I already looked for instruccions on two different manuals, and I couldnt find anything. Thanks a lot!!!!

Look at ecklers.com or corvettecentral.com for a repair kit. It might be the ribbon that controls the operation. I took off my power antenna and installed a $5 tape style antenna from radioshack. No more up/down up/down up/down up/down up/down up/down when i change cd's.

Re: 1992 Chevy Corvette -- need help on installation for power antenna

is there a way I can just cut the power of the antenna by cutting one of the wires on the back of the radio? Because the motor is still running, and since I didnt want to have a drain battery, I pulled the fuse out, but now, the factory alarm, power locks, dome lights and courtesy light dont work. So, I want to out the fuse back in. What wire is the one that gives power to the antenna?
Thank you very much!!!

Open the rear hatch and take that rear panel off. There should be a connector which goes to the power antenna. Just unplug it. :-)
