Question Questions?

My windshield wipers wont go faster then low speed, I figure I need to get a new wiper motor. Where can I pick one up? Also I have to install a speedo gear how is it done and can i pick one up for 3.73 gears at the local auto parts shop?
Thank you for help.

Speedo gear to adjust for 3.73's will not be at your local parts store. Give Steeda, Latemod, and many others a call and they will take care of you.

junkyard for the motor.

installing a speedo gear is easy... just take the 8mm bolt out where the speed sensor hooks to the trans, take out the speed sensor. use a screwdriver to pry the retaining clip out of the stock gear. replace the gear and retaining clip and reinstert the speed sensor, and replace the bolt. and your'e done.

the speed sensor is located near the back of the transmission, near the crossmember. there's a half-inch thick cable (speedo cable) leading to it and a small wiring harness.

if you have delay on your wipers it may not be the motor . i mean dont rule out the motor but my ford truck had a delay box under the dash that was bad . im not sure if the mustangs do but i seem to remember seeing unthe dash of my mustang . drivers side close to the door small black box about 2x3 . it should be bolted to the metal rail at the bottom of the dash

Re: Questions?

Yes, speedo gears are avialable for your 3.73:1 gears, but, don't expect it to last long. the teeth tend to get chewed up pretty quickly.

Okay my speedo gear came in. I drove the car up onto my ramps and got under the car. Took the bolt out pulled the speedo sensor, once it came out tranmission fluid steadly poured out. I quickly took the speedo gear off and put the new one on, by this time a good amount came out maybe 1/2 quart. Im wondering if I can start the car with the lowered trans fluid. Also Im thinking I should change all the fluid now, how can I drain it and were do I add it? (P.S. Some good trans fluid choices.)
Thx for help.

Re: Questions?

Not sure what year you have and manual vs auto.

On the T-5 tranny the drain and fill plugs are on the passenger side. Remove then with an allan or torx. Stating the obvious but fill on top, drain towards bottom. Just fill till it starts coming out the fill hole.

To add you either have to pump it into the hole or remove the shifter and pour into the top.

Sorry about not giving specs but its a 88 GT manual. Alright so ill drain it on the passenger side then take clutch off and pour in threw their. Also I changed the speedo gear but thats not the problem with the speedometer not running. Any ideas on what it might be. Is it normal for the trans fluid to come out where the speedo sensor pulls out?

Re: Questions?

You will remove the shifter to put in the tranny fluid, not the clutch.

Not sure in the speedo gear, but, it does sound reasonable.

I would suggest posting on the Corral www.corral.net forums, they can probably answer that question real quick.
