2002 blazer eng. light code 440

my engine light has come on and a code reader brings up code po 440. All it states is that there is a problem with the emmision system. Can anyone tell me where to start looking. The vehicle runs perfect and never misses a beat. I can clear the code but after two trips the check engine light comes back on and sets the same code again. Any help is appreciated.

Re: 2002 blazer eng. light code 440

P0440 is the Evaporative System Malfunction.

Check to see if any hoses have blown off the evap canister.

Check your evap system for lines that have popped off.

Had the same problem on my 97 LS Vortec blazer. All i needed was a 15 dollar solenoid that goes to the evap canister replaced. light went off, and all is well.

Excellent!

Will remember that for future problems.

Check your emiisions routing diagram on the fan guard.

You need to go out to your truck before you ask questions.

True statement, but here's a hint for 97 Vortec V6 owners:

The evap canister is located behind the lower rear fender on the drivers side , just in front of the rear bumper.
