Things are pretty slow around here, so can you guys give me an opinion? what are some mods i can do on my Malibu's 406 ci engine. i already have:

headers
full 3" exhaust (no cats)
high compression pistons
mild cam
no a/c, heater
750 series carb
bored 0.30"

any other ideas?

Have you thought about a light-weight and stronger drive shaft or a better rear end ie. better gears?

A turbocharger comes to mind aswell... just a few thoughts!

seriously I think drivetrain mods are the best ones if you going to keep your car in a stock form. It makes the car totally different to drive.

Headwork, better cam, roller rockers, better intake possibly a high rise, MSD coil/box, shiftkit, depending on your cam around a 3k stall, new gears, locker for Posi, traction bars, better tires, drag shocks, maybe some sub frame connectores (wont really make you go faster but will help stability) and depending on how streetable you want it to be, start with the weight reductions. Typicalls 406's are very strong motors so im thinking that if you put a better cam in there its gonna wake the motor up. It all depends on how much you want to actually drive the car.

Definetly a new intake manifold will been nice with everything else you have. Then torque convertor, gears, head work.

Re: Help with V8 mods...

i forgot to mention that i have a 2500 stall converter, B+M shifter, shift kit, positraction rear, 3.73:1 diff, line lock (just got it). i dont want to dump too much more money into it because im looking for an import to give the full turbo treatment. how do i post pics because i have some of it at the drag way? thanks for all the ideas!

I think you just answered your own question then

I think the work on your Nova is completed if your going to buy another car to modify.

Re: Help with V8 mods...

Definantly would go with a new gear, I heard its most horsepower for your $. MSD 6A or AL Ignition for the cam and hear work..and of course, the gear drive timing..no real power gain from that, but it sounds nice.
