Raced an SRT-4 at the track last week
I finally made it to the track last Tuesday an it was ridiculously packed. The weather here has been pretty crappy and last Tuesday was perfect. So everyone and there brother was there. I only got to make one pass. As long as the line was I wasn't about to wait twice. Finally got to the starting line and there was a new silver neon SRT-4 next to me. Other than obvious exhaust work I assume it was stock, Im not sure because I never talked to the guy.
Off the line I had a little wheel hop, I came off the clutch a little to fast so he had me by a few feet. But after 2nd gear I caught him and walked him. At the end of the race I had him by half a car maybe. I gotta give them some respect I had no idea they were that fast. I ran a 13.7@ 106.43 He ran a 14.3@ 99.77 I'm a little disappointed in my time I was expecting better with the latest mods. I guess that shows ya gotta get the power to the ground. Well control arms are gonna be my next mods. Maybe them and a set of slicks will get me some better time.

that conversion is a Vette, Viper, and Camaro killer, im a ford guy myself but i think that more aftermarket companies need to offer more aftermarket performance then just john lingenfelter.But that conversion is definitly awesome, but i think the nitrious needs to go, american muscle dont need steroids.

Thanks for the info on the control arms. I think found a place online to get the uppers and lowers in one kit.
Getting back to your question. What makes the SRT-4 so leathal is its power to weight ratio. The car comes with a turbo charged 215hp 4cyl. Thats about what a stock 95 GT comes with so its not a lot of hp. BUT the neon is only 2880 lbs. So its about 600lbs lighter than the GT. What was your 60 foot time?
Please tell me your nitrous was off, because that combo should be able to get over 105 without it.

I'd suggest adjustable uppers and lift bars instead of lowers.

Stiffer launch, plants the rear tires a little better or harder than control arms and I have found atleast on the car I put lift bars on they did a whole lot better at preventing wheel hop then the control arms. http://www.racerwalsh.com/suspension.htm These are pretty nice here, scroll down close to the bottom of the page and see what you think.
Also the adjustable uppers will allow you to play around with pinion angle to get the best power to the ground.

do you have to change your rear springs when you install those lift bars? that would make sense to me....
i understand about how the correct pinion angle prevents driveline vibration by keeping the u-joints in phase. but how does playing with it improve your power to the ground?

Lift bars are great with street tires. I would how ever not use them wit DR's and especially not slicks. They are way to hard on the car with slicks or DR's when it is just not needed.
The good cheap all around set-up is solid lowers and adjustable uppers. The upper adjustable give you enough adjustment to change your pinion angle that with a decent modded motor set-up you can preload it enough.
