Re: Museum collection carbon fiber

I've used Museum Collection CF and it is very good. As far as I know they make large and small carbon fibre and kevlar. The large is for 1/12th and the small for 1/20 and 1/24. Carbon fibre is silver on black and kevlar is black on yellow. Anything beyond that must be too new for an old bloke like me

I can find some pics of it if you like.

EDIT: Looking at the link you posted the normal type is the conventional twill weave, "stripedy" carbon fibre. Their other type is the plain weave without the distinct stripe. Depends on what look you are after.

I used Meseum Collection Carbon. It's a very good product and one of the cheapest and biggest sheets. So you get more for less money

It's soft but very resistent. Highly recomended

Few small picture. Hard to take the pattern on pictures

(I just realised that the rear wheel isn't correct.. will need to fix that )

Perfect example of what happens when you hit a curb while drifting.

As far as the CF goes, I personally reccomend the diaganol style, rather than the checkerboard weave. IMO, the checkerboard weave just doesnt look very realistic. And if you get red CF it looks like you could play checkers on your car.

Wow that is amazing. How did you manage to get it to soften? I tried to use the museum collection decals they would just not soften up. I used microsol, microset hell I even tried alcohol.... nothing will soften these buggers

any tips? It is now obvious that I am doing something wrong or not doing at all

Re: Museum collection carbon fiber

I use Microsol, a small coton piece (from an old tshirt) and a LOT of patience.. those 2 hood took at least 1 hour of full work to do each, just to place the CF on it. it will soften after few minutes of work then you will have to work to remove all the bubbles.
Museum collection are very strong, you shouldn't have any problem.

Re: Museum collection carbon fiber

I find Microsol isn't a strong enough solvent for some decals. Museum Collection and SMS included. Get hold of some Solvaset. But be careful, it is deadly stuff!

Re: Museum collection carbon fiber

solvaset? I dont think I know that. What brand is it.

By the way microsol is way too powerful for SMS as far as I have seen. it pretty much shreds it to pieces. pretty strange actually.
