Dunno whether your talking about 5 speed manual or automatic, but the 99 Honda Civic EX 5-speed can do 0-60 mph at around 8.8 seconds. The newer preludes have about 195 hp and 156 tq-ft and they do 0-60mph in 7.4 sec. They weigh about 200 + more lbs than the 92 Prelude. I would guess that the 92 Prelude would equal if not better the Civic EX. I doubt that the 92 Prelude would do 0-60 in 10 sec. My 2000 Toyota I4 Camry, which weighs well over 3000 lbs and is automatic does 10 sec 0-60. I ballpark the prelude to do it in mid 8 secs. goto www.motortrend.com or even better www.edmunds.com for more info.

since you havent actually bought the car yet, have you considered looking for an si or vtec? You will be happier in the long run i think..

The Prelude S is pretty limited in what you can do with it and also with the results you get. I would suggest getting the Si or VTEC. The S is only SOHC, and I both the Si or VTEC are DOHC, which I would rather have. Also the 135bhp is not much to begin with. But if you already have it, then good luck and have fun with it! Preludes are so sweet. Congrats

well ya see, i know about si's and vtec's, i wish i had one, but since, it's free for me, and in perfect condition, i'll take it, i had a SOHC accord, and they are by no means slow, so the prelude s isn't that bad, sure it's not as powerful, but i'll end up doin the engine swap down the road, i just wanna know if it's gonna be the same or faster than my 97 2 door accord, which i thknk the lude would be faster,so, no biggie, it'll work for now

And Iīm pretty sure that the newer Preludes with 195hp are quicker than just 7,4 secs from 0-60mph!!! According to Honda they just need 6,9 secs which is well possible IMO! |
