Talking How to spend $1,200 tax returns!

Whassup everyone?!? I'm gonna be getting a fat $1200 tax return check in about a month and I want everyone's opinion on what mods to spend it on. I've got a 97 Civic EX and I want to spend it on strictly performance b/c I just bought some rims. The only things I've done for performance are CAI and a custom exhaust. I've been thinking about getting a whole catback exhaust. I can get a B16 motor from a friend of mine for $1200 shipped. If I don't get the engine, I could get some of the following: cam, pulley kit, header, or NOS. I'd like to hear what ya think and list anything else you can think of or any other options I have.

Do that. You'll still be able to use you exhaust system.

i'd say get the engine or some full coil-overs. i'm gonna get my car dropped with my return and go to tuner bash in daytona beach over spring break with the rest. i lived in daytona for 2 1/2 years and never new about it, of course i didnt get into cars until after i had moved.

Talking

I can get you just about any aftermarket parts cheaper than nopi, summit, etc. My friends company innovative performance technologies llc. The website is www.iptech.tv From there you can email victor rodi. Don't let the site fool you, it is still under construction. They now do hondas, etc. and even custom make coil kits, etc. Every dollar saved counts!!!

I'm not really interested in coil-overs b/c I've got the H&R racing springs. I do however, need to replace my stock shocks!! Anyway, with the $1200, would you rather buy a B16 or go w/ a port & polish? Any other suggestions?!?

Yeah... that would be me. It's all good... my car will be fixed in a few weeks. I'm workin' on another deal with someone I can REALLY trust. I will probably still get a d16z6 as a temporary motor.

I'm in the same boat aws you. Getting my tax return for $1500 in less than two weeks and a majority of it is going towards my car. What I would say is if you can trust this guy with the engine do that...if you are unsure at all I would get:1)header 2)underdrive/pulley set 3)port and polish 4)fuels system components(fuel rail, bigger injectors, adj. pressure regulator, pump) See where you're at after that. Possibly a VTEC controller or some ignition. On my 93EX I have i/h/e, underdrive pulley, aem pulleys, plugs, wires...so I'm going on to the fuel system and a port and polish. With this money I'm gonna try and get the last things needed so I can put my turbo on. Saw a 5th gen. civic with a greddy turbo kit spank a 98 cobra...SWEET!

I talked to my friend that had the B16 engine. He said there are 1st & 2nd generation and that he has the 1st. He also said that I'd have to get a new tranny so it would work. I got the APEXi VAFC yesterday from a friend of mine for $125. Still haven't decided what to spend my tax returrns on. The same guy w/ the engine said that he could get a Greddy Evo for $450. My exhaust on my car right now consists of a Weapon R muffler and 2.25" piping from the cat. It is loud as hell and I only want it to be loud when I gun it, plus I have an exhaust leak. That is why I want to get a new exhaust.
