Le Mans Contest Entry - BMW 320i Lichtenstein #50 LM'77

I am entering the contest with this BMW 320i Art Car painted by the American Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.

Driven by Frenchmen Herve Poulain and Marcel Mignot, it finished 9th overall and 1st in its class in 1977 at the Le Mans 24-hour race.

Some background about the art.
Lichtenstein said, "I wanted to use painted lines as a road, pointing the way for the car. The design also shows the scenery as it passes by. Even the sky and sunlight are to be seen... you could list all the things a car experiences - the only difference is that this car mirrors all these things even before it takes to the road."

Wish me luck. This will be my first serious decaling .

That’s a very beautiful choice Cychalen.
Good thing you also bought the grade up parts.
A beautiful car, a challenging decal scheme and the detail set are definitively a great cocktail for a model. Good luck.

Awesome choice, I didn't even know S27 made a decal sheet for that car.

Thanks for all your comments.
I have been looking for pictures and info of this car for a while, and still unable to find out the type of white it is painted. From most of the pictures of the real car it looks like pure white. Colors on the monitor are deceiving. Can someone confirm this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Not confirmed but I am with you on the paint being pure white. I doubt it would be any type of off white becuase it would look wierd.

Good luck for this beautiful BMW, Cychalen!

I did the very same kit a couple of months ago. Decaling is really challenging but it's a lot of fun and once you're done with it, you won't be able to stop staring at it! I'll check, I should be able to dig out some pics of my bild.

Maybe, I should do the Frank Stella Art Car for the contest...
That would be a nice pair!

All the best, Marc
