I would just look for the same stuff as any other car. Any of the things that are Fox-body specific problems are lil things that are easy fixes.

Re: problems to look for.

By easy, meaning expensive yet easy to fix?
Or cheap and easy?

I've owned over 10 fox-body Mustang since I was 15, so I'll make you a list of common problem areas I have seen:
1: Rust. not on easily replaceable panels. I've seen ALOT of rusted rear quarters (caused by clogged drains for sunroof) If it's a GT (87-93), more than likely alot of cancer can be found behind the sideskirts (once again, bad drainage)
2: ripped out rear torque boxes. 5.0's make so much torque and when combined with a rear suspension designed for 4 cyl cars, you will have problems. where the rear control arms ( mainly lower) meet the chassis, the sheetmetal is usually pulled apart at the spot welds. Usually can be fixed with a call to Maximum Motorsports and an order for Battle Boxes.
3: Door handles. I know it sounds insignificant, but, I hate getting into the stang in winter, just to have the (plastic ) door handle come off in my hands. Used mostly on 91-93. Easily replaced with doorhandles for a mid-80's which are made of metal.
I hope this helps you. Most of the other probs are common to most cars, but these are the things (#'s 1 and 2) I look at first when buying a Mustang and #3 is just a pet-peeve of mine.

Actually they hardly ever get blown while revving high. My 'Stang has seen 8,000 rpms four times and doesnt throw any problems my way. Btw it has 145,000 miles. Keep the oil changed and it will last you a LONG time.
