05 ford mustang vs. 04/05 nissan 350z

people have been comparing the 350z to the old mustang and so far the 350z appears to be the winner, im just wondering what peoples opinions are when comparing it to the new mustang http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/timeline/05/05/ The mustang is supposed to have over 305 hp and should run mid 13's (some speculate these times are underrated and that itll run low 13's in between the current mach 1 and gt the mach1) so performance wise the mustang already appears to be the winner but forget the performance what about looks? the mustang has had one heck of a face lift inside and out and ford finally gave it high quality interior... anyways post ur opinions

I like the new Mustang, although I admit the concept looked better, still the production model should definitly turn a lot of heads. 305HP, this car should be plenty fast, and I doubt the 350Z could take this car in acceleration. Still I'm gonna hold off on calling it better than the 350Z until more information about it's overall performance comes out.

yeah, i agree with 3000ways. concept was better (but that's how it usually goes) and though on paper and in theory the new mustang should be able to take a 350z, which one is better will stilll remain to be seen.

one of the biggest complaints people had was the interior of the mustang and i agree the 350z had way nicer interior but the new stang interior is also very nice... domestics are finally producing high quality cars to keep up with imports, im glad its finally happening, i only wish i could have a stang and a 350z

The new Mustang GT still has a solid rear axle suspension, so the 350Z will probably still have better handling, at least.

i think the mustang is gonna be ugly i dont know...but i dont like how they are just trying to make their cars look like they are a new 40 year old car! might be a big hit, but id stick to a 350Z!

I'm pretty sure the 05 Mustang GT will win at the 1/4 mile track. And also a point many people are overlooking is this is the Stangs first new chassis in over 20 years. The DEW chassis borrowed from the Lincoln LS is expected to bring much better handling to the table even with a solid rear axle. Hopefully the numbers will back this up when it's all said and done.

as far as handling, ford didnt give it indy rear suspension because that would make it to expensinve (the stang gt will be like 5 grand less than a 350z) but the 06 cobra will have it and cost about the same as a 350z... the new platform and independent rear suspension, the possibilities are endless.

The 2005 Mustang's chief engineer/designer said that they made sure the chassis was designed with both IRS and live axle in mind so they could switch to either kind without a lot of modifications. So, the Cobra should have IRS and maybe some special package non-Cobra Mustangs down the road.

Ford was thinking about putting IRS in all the new GT's but found that 70% of the possible GT buyers preferred the solid axle cause of it's better 1/4 mile use.

my 03 GT COnvertable against a friends 350z race was a good one.. but he pulled on me.. Plus i also have a auto! By the time we both reached 80 he had about half a bumper on me! SO...

I agree. Even though the '05 Mustang looks cool, but it looks OLD! The same thing Ford did with the new Thunderbirds.
