Anyone run the 1/4 mile

Not intending to be a disrespectful member of Automotive forums i decided to come straight to the problem

Some people say that Mustangs are slow and that an Eclipse would easily beat mustangs, i (almost getting a mustang myself) was wondering how fast a mustang can clear the quarter mile V8 or V6 stick or auto because the numbers say that the mustang is a close combatant to the Eclipse (the V6 at least)

I ran a 15.7 on a slight upgrade using a dash mount timer and practically no gas in the tank, girlfrind in the passenger seat, spare and everthing in the car

Your first problem to this would be using a dash type timer like a G-tech. The matching of thier times compared to at a 1/4 mile track are not good.

You really need to goto a 1/4mile track and get ya times if you want to compare them to our 1/4 mile times gotten at a track.

v6 2v 193hp = something like an eclipse
v8 GT 2v 260hp = 14.0 1/4
v8 Mach1 4v 310hp = low 13's 1/4
v8 Cobra 4v S/C 380rwhp (at 10-15% loss that's 423-447hp) = Easy 12's 1/4

Hope that helps.

I own a V-6 Mustang (2003)...straight out of the box it ran a 15.550 1/4...and now with the mods it runs very low 12's..and I could probably get into the 11's if I hit the juice before 3rd gear but I dont know what I'm doing and in 1st and 2nd the damn tires just make smoke =)

I understand tracks are not readily available. I'm just saying comparing things like G-tech times to actual track times probably will not give the truth.

The 03-04 Cobra's are rated at 390hp at the flywheel. But many 03 Cobra's dyno at 370-380 at the rear wheels stock. Showing a underating of flywheel hp by Ford.

Im not saying that your wrong, but i seriously doubt that a v6 mustang could hang anywhere near a v6 eclipse. The eclipse gt does run 15.6 on average stock. and a v6 mustang runs about 16.6 according to most web sites. Ive driven a 03 v6 stang and it is one of the slowest cars ive driven in my life other than my moms astro van. My friend bought a gt and brought it to the track and the best he could get was 14.4 which is pretty good, but still not 14 flat. I love mustangs and im not tryin to bash them but your overrating them a little.

when i took my 94' gt down the track i run a 14.0 flat with just a couple mods consistantly. Now with the rest of my mods im hoping to hit low 13's at least.

A 99+ stock GT is capable of 14.0. Driver experience and altitudes do matter alot though. There are differences about telling time slips; some people tell the best possible and some tell what they can do in the car.
No offense intended, but I'm not sure how you can say an 03 v6 is one of the slowest cars you've ever driven. Especially considering you drive an 88 Honda CRX.

i drive an 88 crx with a b16a engine in it. lol. i raced my dads 5.0 and i beat him by about 2 cars. just because its a 4cylender doesnt mean its slow. ive raced plenty of v8s and beat most.

Re: Anyone run the 1/4 mile

I have to admit that hondas in general are not given the credit they deserve because of their numbers, they make up for it with their much smaller weight CRX's are extremely light and given a little bit of top end like a b16 and u've got a respectable car try a GSR B18 or maybe cram in an h22 and ur talking some serious acceleration

I don't know what those numbers mean... I thought we were talking about cars. Isn't a b16 an airplane or something?

Well if youd like to see my time slip...15.550 stock '03 V-6
BTW the first pass I ever made on a track...against a '66 mustang 302
and he ran a 15.545
as a matter of fact....here are all the times broken down:
Reaction: 1.372
I1: 2.242
I2: 6.485
I3: 10.021
MPH (I3): 68.609
I4: 12.934
E.T. 15.550
MPH 89.395
Now on sidebar....could comeone tell me what the I1, 2, 3, etc mean
Are they intersections?
I only have 5 passes under my belt....dont really care for it as much as the scca events.
