Exclamation My plugs were destroyed...

Starting from last week I started hearing clicking sound from my engine..I posted this earlier and have been discussing it with George aka.P10DET Anyways, today I checked my plugs....They were toast...I have never seen anything like this before...I have JWT cams and I think they are S3 cams. I also have Stillen headers, intake, exhaust, magnecore wires. I have 60K miles. Tomorrow I am going to buy another set of plugs and put my stock wires back. Can anyone help me on this? I have read around and seems like pre-ignition is the case which they say leads to detonation!!! Please if anyone have any idea or know the answer please help me out...

This is the picture of all four starting from left to right, cylinders 1-4

Surprising my car ran very well even though my plugs looked like this...honest to god truth...I called my friends to come over and they were shocked to see that I drove with plugs looking like that. I was surprised my self but reading alot of info on plugs reveals I could have seriously damaged my engine...

Hmmmnn ... the other symptoms (clacking vs rpm) indicate there is probably still an issue with the HVLAs.

Perhaps they are they root cause of the burnt plugs, due to unusual fuel/air mixtures, if the valves were not operating correctly because of an HVLA problem in #3 & #4 ??

d00d! Man your car will feel soooo much better when you get the new plugs in. I'm betting that might have happened when you were playing with the S-AFC?

Did the tips break off those plugs? If they broke, then i would check the valves and the pistons to make sure there is no damage to them.

Yeah I think I have S3....I got these for a power page in Import Tuner magazine. The magazine did everything for me but they didn't know what cams they were when I asked....I called JWT and they said that they don't remember since its been awhile...Only way is for me to measure the lobes and specs then they can decifer which ones I have.

I don't have the S-AFC anymore...I took that out over a month ago...

Do you have any side view pics of the two "good" plugs? They look fine to me, if they are, this would look to be a fueling problem on those two cylinders. More than likely you have two clogged injectors, or low fuel pressure due to a clogged filter, failing fuel pump, etc.

check if there is coolant leak in your cylinder. is any of the cylinders corroded on the walls? if so you should get that fixed.

Your numbers 3 and 4 cylinders have serously detonated.

You MUST find the cause of this problem.

You might want to have someone scope those cylinders. Find a shop with a boroscope and have them check it out. The boroscope will allow the tech to look inside the cylinder.

Bad news dude. Sorry to bring you that news.

Grover is going to race. I think he wants me to, but I just want to work on set-up. Strange huh? I may race though just to try the set-up out. You'd think I'd jump at the chance to race, but I'm just not as interested in racing in NASA. Maybe I'll feel different about once I get there. I'll be bringing all my gear of course.
