What does a Camaro need to beat 5.0 GT?!

For 7 to 10 grand im sure you could get a decent LT1 or LS1.. It'l give you a good platform to build on..
Or you could spend a little less on the car, and get a 88 to 92 Z28 or IROC with the 350TPI.. And have lots of money left to build it up..

keep in mind that stock for stock the camaro was faster, so for a 80's 5.0L stang, a 5.7L Z will be faster, you can score a very clean example of one for around 4k, and have 3 grand left for mods, be running low 13's high 12s without breaking a sweat.

Honestly with 10 grand I'd drop an edelbrock performer rpm crate engine for 6 grand, and a tci street fighter tranny for about 1500, a good posi rear end for a couple hundred and then the rest on suspension. But that's just me. I have to piece my shit together cuz I never have that much money to drop.

hmm.... well the TBI isnt a carb, if thats what your asking, and i personally feel that TPI is better, but 92RS would disagree with me there then again, we also butt heads on 305 vs 350. if you want to work with what you have, 92RS is the man to talk to. however, my two cents would be to build a killer short block, find a doner car for the TPI setup, put it all together, swap it in, and call it a day. backed up by a built tranny, rear end, and suspension of course.

all i know is that is way too much money to beat a stang, i got a list i want for mine its about 3k and it'll make mine 500-550hp, and it doesnt include NOS or t/c or s/c... i cant wait...

I would argue this...... I think between the 2 it's just a total toss-up. Even magazine articles from the 80's I have seen one time the Mustang does the 1/4 mile by a tenth better and then another will have the GM by a tenth.

Well lets get to the bones of it here. Take of your exhaust, intake and heads. Now get a set of Vortech heads off of ebay (those will run you about $500 loaded and in beautifull condition) get a real big cam, (low duration for auto) an air gap intake a new 700cfm carb (which should be far more than adequate) That having been said you have a good set up on your hands, and it should handily deal with any stang out there. As far as the hundred shot of nos. Counter that with one of your own?
