weird idle on my p11
the car runs fine but when i stop at a light the idle drops to below 500 and it feels like it's going to stall ,,,it does this about once ever 2 minutes or so.....do u think it's an o2 sensor?

My car before I added a header would need to warm up a bit before I take off. And if I didn't the car would cut out. Iv'e just missed a few parked cars. Sounds like your car might be running cold. Do you use premium gas? Do you change your oil regularly? (every 3000miles)
I'm just guessing, you need to have that checked out. Maybe it's time for a tune-up. :flash:

Just a thought, try cleaning out the throtlebody and then reseting the idle. Maybe this will help. Mine used to drop but not that far and i just did this and it was better. Otherwise try pulling out the O2 sensor and spray it with Carb cleaner or throttlebody cleaner and see if it changes.

i have a service appointment on friday, and to be honest ii'm a bit worried. My friend works for nissan and he thinks it's a bad maf sensor now i'm thinking hmmmm will they not pay for it since i do have a cone intake, although i 've had it since the car had 5000 miles it now has almost 30 but i reallyy don't want to hear "well sir you made an alteration to your vehicle and this is what caused the maf to go bad" what do u guys think. I've gone there with the intake before when i first got the car like a day or two after my check engine light came on and all it was was a bad o2 sensor then about 3000 miles later i put the intake on and went back again2000 miles after that with another bad o2 sensor. There were no drivability problems and if the check engine light had not come on i would not of even noticed it but this time it's very noticable and seems to be getting progressively worse.Today forr the first time in it's life it stalled out on me> the car pulls fine and drives fine but the idle drops wheni'm at a standstill

you may also want to see if all of your vac lines are hooked up properly. im having the same problem you are, the whole rough idle thing. i looked under my hood and noticed some lines that were connected to the stock air box and pipe were not connected anymore, i did alittle ghetto rigging to get all these lines running back into the intake and my car dosent stall anymore, although the idle is still kinda rough but its not stallin out everywhere. i also noticed that it only stalls out when its cold.

well i got my baby back today and the dealer replaced the airflow meter,,,,he said if i had gone to a nissan instead of an infiniti dealer they probably would have made me pay for it. He said that it was because of my intake but that they would cover it anyway. they gave me an i 30 loaner for the weekend, very nice but handled like crap.

I have the same problem in my 1991 (80k miles). Is there a way to check the MAF sensor. I don't have any warning lights coming on either. I have only had the car about a month. It has been running fine.
Thanks Ryan |

I had the same problem with my car. I focused on the AAC valve which is located on the throttle body. I hammered with a small hammer for a short while and the valve functioned just fine. I gues there were some carbon build up in it wich now has come loose. In retrospect, using some injector cleaner a couple of fillups, might have fixed the problem just as easily.
