se-r vs civic si

I have a 2003 Sentra SE-R (auto) with i/h/e and I got this friend who got a 2000 Civic Si (5 spd) with only a cai. He thinks he's the baddest ass in the neighborhood. He goes into parking lots and rev his engine all the time. even his gf's embarrassed to be around him. Now he wants to race me, what do you guys think? Who would win?

u should get him but race him from like a 40mph roll cause ur auto he will prob get u if go from a dead stop.but i have to no why didt u get a spec and why a auto.i have a 04 spec and if i can get a gsr and a rsx s u should be able to get him.let me no what happens.

True..ur auto tranny wont stand against a 5 speed. You might win if you rev the hell out of it..still a bad idea.

i have a 2.5 le (auto) and can beat civics off the line some times. I'd go for it, definetly much better to have manual though

I got the auto because my parents bought it for me. I wanted to get the manual, but at the time I couldn't drive one but I really needed a car. They won't buy me the manual cuz they think I'm gonna crash lol. But then I learned how to drive a manual when I went over to China (everyone drives a manual over there), but I already got this car and I really like it, so I'm gonna stick with it. Normally when I floor my car, it switches gears at around 6250rpm, where do the manual ppl normally switch gears? I think that's where my rev limiter is anyways right?

You have 165HP and 175ft-lb of torque on your SE-R. This is excluding the i/h/e you added. The civic si has 160HP and only 135ft-lb of torque and all he has is an cold air intake. It doesn't matter if you're driving an auto or manual, your SE-R will win. Here's a hint: don't floor it from the line, you will burn out and your tires will spin faster than you are moving. Instead, launch the car like a quick run (like if you're in hurry to get somewhere) and once the engine reaches 4000rpm then floor it. Make sure the engine doesn't shift into second before 4000, if it does, you launched to slow. If you do it right, you will win. If you're a good driver and you've mastered how to use the auto, you could beat any civic even if you didn't add anything to your car. Remember, it's not just the power of the engine, it's the skill of the driver that wins races as well.

The 2000 Civic Si only has 114 ft-lbs of TQ.

meh, i think it's a drivers race.

you can't just look at hp and tq figures to see who will be faster.
first off, the si is lighter.
and also there are two main problems with being autotragic:
1) you have more drivetrain loss, so you don't have all that much more wheel horspower than your friend.
2) gearing.... i've seen vids of auto SERs accelerating and they hit a wall when they hit their 3rd gear....
it should be a good race though. btw, i think you can floor it before 4000 rpm w/o spinnin.

I've raced before, and right before it's time to go, I floor the brake with my left foot and step down enough on the accelerator to reach 2000rpm, but by the time it reaches that, it's time to race anyway so all that don't last long enough to damage the transmission that bad, and I don't race that often. But so far when I do that, there's barely any wheel spin.

Go for it man. I only got a little 91' 2.0 and race a lot. I've lost to civics that are standard so they need a little payback lol. Then again, I've even raced impalas and a cobra... and lost miserably... but it's all in fun. So even if you lose have fun doin it.
