The Day of truth: SE-R Spec V vs SiR

Well, as some of you might know, im working in the Nissan for the summer in the marketing department, doing car comparisons etc...
When I entered the director general told me he was going to race me in a Sentra SE-R Spec V. Today was the day.

He did not race it himself, but a guy named Carlos, which is the test driver for Nissan, hmmmm...

We went to the highway, waited to catch a light on front of the pack and there it is, a red light matching the nissans color.

Nervousness.

Rev my engine to 6000 rpms and Im eager to feather the clutch. Light turns GREEN
The sentra chirps the wheels and I feather the clutch. The sentra gains two cars in less than two seconds . My engine struggles to get to 5500 rpms and then it starts pulling, but the sentra pulls away.

3 cars away.

End of first, shift to second as I watch the sentra leave me. Right when im in second at 6500 my car starts leveling up, he already had me by 3 cars and a half and I just made it so i mantained that distance. End of second. In third my car starts inching on him, when Im at 8000 rpms in 3rd gear im 1 and a half cars away from him. Shift to fourth and remain there until 7000 rpms were he shut down. He got me by 1 and a half cars up to 105mph.

Then I say we go from a roll, I choose my sweet spot. 70 kph in 2nd, right about 6400rpms. BOOM...WE GO. Dead even, dead even, go to third, and by the time 3rd ends (90mph) I gain a car, shift to fourth and I dont gain shit.

The distance that the spec v pulled on me on 1st was huge and its hard to recover.

On a side note: In the morning i was driving towards work and going past cars on the right lane (not supposed to) and I have to stop because theres a white cargo truck infront of me. Im like damn! And the cargo truck opens the rear door and what do I see infront of me?

A Grey Porsche Carrera GT.

Yeah I was so excited. The Nissan is two agencies away from the Porsche, after work I went to hump the exhaust of the Porshe.

Peace.

Re: The Day of truth: SE-R Spec V vs SiR

The fastest Ive been in my car, when it just couldnt take it anymore was in a completely straight highway with two passengers beside me, and two pieces of luggage. It topped at 131 mph.
So without the luggage and people i can hit 135-137 mph.

My car was struggling to get to 5500 rpms because when i feather it at 6000 rpms it drops to around 3800 or so and then from there too 5500 takes about a sec or so, very long compared to the spec v which shifted into second in no time.

Re: The Day of truth: SE-R Spec V vs SiR

I raced a spec v when they first came out. Here's the deal. Me (130 lbs) and my buddy (190 lbs)in my car. The spec v had 3 ppl in it including the driver. We pull up to the light and talk a little. It's on. We take off at the green light and are dead and i mean dead even. He kinda misses second gear an i pull about a half a car on him. In third, we both stayed in the same postion, me ahead. we shut it down at about 110 MPH. One of the best races i've ever had, and if he hadn't messed up in second, it would have been neck to neck the whole time.

Sounds like a very nice race, did you race him with or without your mods that are listed?

Re: The Day of truth: SE-R Spec V vs SiR

I believe the Spec v''s ar some of the best races for the b16 and b18 engine. It really is almost an equal match. Those spec v engines have some nice technology put into them. micropolished crank and all i believe. But i look at it this way, those engines have a lot more displacement than ours, and we can still keep up.
