Hey there....just an update on the City Turbo.

Well...my cousin got back to me, and said he asked the other relos, and they probably won't keep it now. However I asked him how much they'd want if I kept it and he gave me a good price, so my sister and I will probably take the City, and restore it. I'll let you know if we change our minds though....we're not certain on anything until we get the car home.

I'm going to have to find out about the costs in fixing it first. Needs rust treatment, respray, and eventually some new rims.

My cousin took the mags off it.....idiot! Not even his car!

Do you know any good places that fix rust?? I'll probably give Jeff Briffa a call tomorrow, and get an estimate, although he may need to see the car.

There's also a City Turbo in this weeks trader $3900 in Brookvale.

ta Quyen I can't remember the last time I had rust in a car so I dunno about rust treatment. Sounds like you and your sister are going to have fun. I'm pretty much going to commit to a 1G Civic rebuild... but if you decide against keeping it, let me know

Cheers

I'm sure we will We've already decided what colour to respray it. Its currently white, with gold pearl. We're thinking a light colour, maybe white, with blue pearl. Mum can do the retrim on the interior, if we buy the material. She did the retrim in the convertible before.

You're going to have problems finding a 1g though....I was looking at the trader, and saw about 3. a few automatics, and one of them was like 2K....rip off! Then there's the condition too... Good luck, I'll keep you posted on progress anyway.

Yeah - I've hunted up 6 1Gs so far - prices between 800 and 2K, none of them real good. I don't care about the engine or interior - all I want is a straight chassis. It can be auto and I'd pull out the wiring loom and drop in a new manual one - very little wiring to worry about

Actually - I need the center console that came with the autos as I have a '79 Accord optional front console that goes over the top of the automatic console and mounts under the tray on the 1G dash - it lets you put a decent stereo in it

I'm starting to look at wrecking yards for a good chassis now.

sigh

Well mum has done sewing in the past, but with leather you need special machinery to sew it and stuff, because its very hard to sew, so you'd be best going to a pro interior place. We are prob going to buy some material which she can sew together.

The standard turbo goes pretty well, when it cuts in....but then again...we may be changing the turbo :silly2:

heheh - if you've ever seen a city turbo, you'll know that Quyen has a bigger hairdryer

They are quite small and relatively quiet

I have a nice big Rayjay turbo sitting in my back room that was bolted onto one of my 1Gs - it's old and huge with big turbo lag - Rayjay originally built turbos for aircraft
