1989 exterior door handle replacement
I am trying to put on new chrome handles from 5.0 resto.
1. How do I get the old ones off? Do I break off the (2) 3 sided clips on the inside of the door handle? 2. Looks like I need a rivet gun to put on the new one. 3. Even after looking at the Haines manual I can't tell. Is there another manual out there more detailed than Haines? Thanks |

Just drill out the old rivets and use large screws and nuts to put the new ones in. Thats what I did and they work great.

Yes like Racer said the factory one's are held in by rivets you need to drill them out and then just use nut and bolt to replace them. Remember not to get bolts too long or they will intefere with the windows. Also I reccomend SS you can get at your local hardware store look nicer and won't rust.
