Arrow Supercharger Photos

Supercharger for the lude.
Its cost out weighed a turbo install by around $3000AUS or $1500 US, plus you dont have to worry about EPA regs in Oz.

The blower is from the 1ggze toyota engine and can be picked up dirt cheap here, its electromagnetic so it can be switched off when cruising. The Radiator and condensor are out of a VTIR civic.
Its runs @ 6PSI and delivers around a 40% increase before the cooler was installed.

That's just crazy mad interesting. I'm blown away by the design. It looks like it's an roots blower (Magnetic clutch like the Mercedes ones) mounted on the driver's side next to the alternator with the plumbing running through that FMIC. I know that Jackson Racing just had the worst time trying to find a way to mount that blower and ended up sitting it on top of the manifold. Can you put up some more pictures that show the mounting and positioning a little more clearly? (Better yet, do you have the site for that kit that might have diagrams or illustrated directions for installation?) Well, however they did it, it seems to work for that application...

Hmmm almost like the project i'm finishing up. I decided to move my jackson blower to the front of the engine where the AC condenser is. This allows me to use a front mount IC or an air/water IC... I would be interested in seeing the mounting position in more detail if you wouldn't mind.

That sure is a front mount intercooler. Not sure if that's a JRSC, though. It's definitely a roots blower, but the Eatons that Jackson employs use a bypass valve and that one uses a magnetic clutch mechanism like the type that Mercedes uses. I'm wondering if they might see more efficiency using a water to air intercooler like the one Vortech uses. Nevertheless, it's definitely a strong design...

It's a totally custom supercharger install. The roots-type super is an SC-14 orignally for a 1GGZE toyota engine.

Here's an earlier post with more details:

Very very cool.

Fierce_269? That was a certain ring to it. Sounds like either a muscle car from 1962 or a "large" professional wrestler from 1946.

That's a pretty damn cool project he has going there. Pretty small looking blower though. Do you (Fierce) think it could push much more the 6-8#s or is this a "budget price with a budget outcome" sort of project?

That sounds really interesting, especially the 'low costs' compared to some kind of racing kit! But I think u must be a tech freak to build this thing right into the car?

I just love the challenge

I actually stole the idea from a local car mag in Oz. The blower had been installed on a 3.8lt motor which on 4.5 psi made an extra 54.4hp at the wheels. The only problem was to obtain this they had to operate the blower at a speed of 11000 rpm (2 to 1 pulley ratio) and this increased temperature to 180 degrees at only 5500 rpm. It was also mounted to close to the throttle body to install a intercooler.

Anyway so I new the blower was from a 2lt motor and as long as the pulley sizes wasnt to different I could obtain the standard boost. The toyota runs a 1 to 1 ratio (8psi) where mine is a 1.2 to 1 ratio (6-7psi), not far of. Then I was sent a diagram from the local car parts bloke of the dimensions and I just new it could fit.

Now you have to be pretty smart or stupid to try this (not sure which one) but it has paid off with little heart ache. Also I did all the installation work myself bar the electronics, so you need some spare time and a little know how or otherwise it would cost a packet.

The cooler has dropped inlet temperatures from around 130 degrees to 80 degrees @ 7000 rpm on a 60 degree day and around 40 degrees on a 30 degree day. When I finish I will post alot more clearer pictures of mounts etc etc

The only two major problems I have had is one, when the aircon was turned on, at idle down it would stall all the time. I fixed this with a solenoid valve connected to a vaccum line which opens when the air is switched on and raises the idle speed higher.
The other which I am still working on is because the factory throttle face is no longer in operation the cold start up does not work anymore (temp operated) so do you no of a way I can start my car when its cold and for something to cut in to keep a constant idle until it has warmed up and then it continues as normal? I could just move the throttle faces around but it would be to much messing around with the water hoses etc.

Anyway fellas :flash:

SORRY

I forgot something yes it can make up to at least 10 psi boost but you have to change the pulley sizes and the temp would be to high without a cooler.:flash:
