Question Civic HB Swap dilemma

hey everyone, currently I have a 2000 Civic SE Coupe, but I'll be giving the car to my sister and I'll be picking up either a CRX or a 5th Gen Civic. Either way, i'm trying to make a sleeper car that can run 13s but also be able to drive it around daily. Money isn't a problem, my main problem is what car to get and what engine to swap it with. I got a buddy who drove a 3rd gen CRX so i asked him to help me out, but I wanted more feedback so I thought this would be the place to do it (since SHO is gone ) Anyways, here are my choices

1. CRX - Swap with a B18C1 or B18C5
2. 5th Gen Civic HB - Swap with B18C1 or B18C5

I will be adding a Turbo and other engine goodies in the near future, I just want to have a good foundation so that the Turbo would run well and also the car would run reliably.

I thought about H22a, but I heard all the things that can happen with that engine, and I'd prefer more reliability.

Thanx for your time, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would go for the 5th gen hatch. I have a 99 hatch with a b18c5 in it. I have added many go fast toys, turbo, hondata, etc. I used to own a SHO too, but it had a wiring problem. I don't think I go ever go back to domestic cars now that I have the Civic. Good luck, you'll have fun with either one you choose.

for the chassis i would go with the 5th gen hatchback. as for the motor if you want to go turbo with it, i would stick with the b18c1, just for the fact that it has a lower compression ratio than the type r so you'll be able to run higher boost without blowing up the bottom end. well thats just my 2 cents.

I agree

5th gen Hatch with GSR motor... Good call on the comprestion... People see a kid in a CRX pull up to the line and the automaticly assume it is a sleeper... It is common... 5th gen hatch is more likely to be looked at as stock...
