I have an 95 integra ls which i plan to turbo eventually......i heard that some turbos will not allow u to pass inspection....if so what could i do to my car to get it to pass and still run a turbo application????

Well, in all honesty, the difficulty with turbos, on the whole, is that they initially produce high quantities of emissions. The primary problem is the turbo itself. It obstructs the exhaust on startup and lowers the EGT, making it harder for the catalytic convertor to light up. Once you've got the car running, it's really not much of an issue. If you look at a car like the Subaru WRX turbo, they've got a catalytic convertor before the turbo. That's one way of getting around it. One option is to wait for the 50-state legal Greddy kit for your B18B1. I don't know how, but Greddy gets these things CARB approved. (CARB = California Air Resources Board, one of the strictest emissions agencies around) That's gotta say a lot for the kit. You should be able to easily pass emissions with that. NJ has lighter laws than CA, I think.

People complain that the Greddy kit doesn't put out enough boost, but I, for one, think it does the job adequately. It puts out more boost than a stock block can take and, because it uses a slightly smaller turbo, has a low boost threshold and minimal lag. That's definitely an option to look into...

I agree the greddy turbo system does produce ample boost and does pass the tougher carb laws here in cali (DAM CARB LAWS) and yes they do actually pull you over on the road and check if you have a cat and for carb eq numbers here in cali!!!!! Sometimes if their not sure if its legal or not they'll send you to a smog refferee to really find out if its smog legal, and on top of that your car has to be quiet enough to pass noise laws as well!!! arg, if you live in cali the greddy system is one of the only ways to go if your going to drive on the street. It maxes out at about 14 psi well more than a stock block can handle and about the threshold of premium pump gas before detonation kicks in. If you get a different turbo and run more boost than that its race fuel that you'll have to get to prevent detonation 108/115 octane, which can get very expensive.
