Post if you have had transmission problems

I started a thread about my car which is here
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=235694

And now I'm thinking its not the motor but something worse, the transmission. Its starting to pisss me off, when I'm going about 40 and above and punch it the rpm's go to 4,000 and stay there and I dont get any faster and it wont switch unless I let off the gas. But if I take is slow it will shift right(but even when I take it slow the car is way to slow and I have to put the gas pedal about 3/4 the way down)... Today I was going up a bridge and was losing speed AGAIN.... I have no clue and I'm fixing to just run it through a bunch of water when it floods and go oops..j/k Now I can expect to pay way to much than what the car is worth. But stupid me got a 6yr loan and still have 2 1/2 yrs left and still owe 10,500 on it. You think the dealer or a shop could hook a computer up to it to see what the problem is......

P.S. DONT BUY AN OLDSMOBILE, And if you have had the same problem please let me know what was the problem.......

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

I have seen issues on other threads where people have had their transmissions replaced at about 112-120K miles.

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

When was the last time you had the fluid changed in your tranny? I saw in the other thread that you had like 97000 miles on the car. You should get it changed at least every 50000 miles which means that you should be due for your 2nd in 3000 miles. I believe the manual says to change it every 50000 miles but if you drive it hard I'd change it every 30000 miles.

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

I've changed it twice. Once at about 60k and the last time when I started to have problems.... I believe the manual says 100k miles. And 150k for the anti-freeze. I think GM just wants the car to mess up so you will more than likely have to get them to fix it........ But I'm taking it in tom. to get fixed. So I will update....

Don't take it to the stealership for tranny issues. I'd go to Aamco.

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

actually it's not the shop had I said that I take it to GM then yes it would be the shop.... And did you come up with the pot remark all by yourself, you should be proud. Anyways

The guy said that the computer said that the mass air sensor was out (I thought the service engine light would blink if it was able to show up on the computer) and my air compressor is totally out. So its time to start calling around to junk yards for one.

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

Hey moron, you can't have a screen name like that and not expect to get comments...Anyway, what the fuck is the air compressor?? Are you talking about the AC compressor because that's the only compressor in your car. And I agree that if the MAF sensor was out, I would think it would cause a MIL to go off.

Your calling him a teenager but your telling him to smoke a joint. Very mature. And yeah if you MAF sensor is out then your car will run like shit.

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

What does it do. And could I have replaced it myself? It's costing 400 bucks..

Re: Post if you have had transmission problems

And FYI genius, I'm 17...but yet somehow I still think I'm a bit more mature...

$400 for the MAF is a rip. You can do it in less than 30 minutes. I was told though when it went out on my Malibu that after the install it would have to "activated" with a GM Scan Tool. I doubt that though. I would just try and plug a new one in and see what happens. The MAF is located just past the air cleaner box. It's plugged into the hose that goes from the air cleaner box to the intake.
