car has lost its power
The big one is my car seems like it has lost alot of power. The otherday I was driving up a steep bridge going 55mph and I had to floor it all the way and I was loosing speed. Usually when it just downshifted I wouldn't have to floor it but just barley depress the gas pedal. On a flat surface when I floor it just doesn't seem right (its hard to explain) I know theres something wrong just don't know what it could be. I have a new fuel pump, fuel filter (both have about 20,000 miles on them) had the injectors cleaned the same time I had the fuel pump changed. New spark plugs and wires, air filter, changed the transmission fluid and filter about 30,000 miles ago (sucks because theres no dipstick, whoever decided not to have one should be fired) oil changed about 400 miles ago. It idles fine and when I'm at a steady speed it runs fine just when I punch it or go up the bridge it doesn't respond like it should or has in the past. Well if you have anyother ideas I should try please let me know.. Car has about 97000 miles V6 3.4 and its a '01......
And I too dont have the first 2 speeds of my blower but I can live with it.. About having to replace my fuel pump, my car had been doing the same thing it is now but much much worse. When I floored it, it would jerk very bad like it was only running on 4 or 5 cylinders. But I thought that it would just fix it if I just floored it alot thinking that maybe something was clogged and by doing that would help. But after driving it like that for awhile if finally wouldn't start. Come to find out I fried the pump because my fuel filter was cloged and cost me 700 bucks to fix(sout of warranty.) |

My 2000 gls did the same thing, run a tank of premium gas through it as well as injector cleaner, it shoudl clean it out, as for your blower motor, the resitor is gone, most people i have talked to including myself have had to change them.

My stupid ass Malibu did the same thing once. Except it was idling horribly but it never threw a CEL.

Re: car has lost its power
well I think I might have found the reason why, first my fuel filter was kinda clogged and my freaking a/c went out in my car and its summer. Why couldn't it have went out during the winter. Anyways when I turn it on and give it some gas you can hear a noise like what a hair spray bottle sounds like when you spray it. And also when I put the rpms at 2000 and turn the air on it goes down to 1100 so I'm thinking that the compressor has blown a bearing or something (makes a wierd noise too when on) Now if I have blown a bearing and the compressor is not engaged will it still mess with my motor (can explain it right but here I go) like making it have to use more power to compensate for the blown bearing. Because even with it off my car sometimes has the power it used to but then the other times still has no power..

Re: car has lost its power
As far as your blower motor. The resistor is only about 20 bucks through a dealer and can be installed in about 20 minutes. There is only 2 screws holding it in. It is located under the glove box on the blower motor housing. You just have to kinda stand on your head to put it in.

Re: car has lost its power
ya I know about that but I can live with it. As long as it still blows out air I'm fine. But having no a/c will keep it from every coming on.........
