Mercedes SL 300 (1954) -> Roadster

Hello guys!

I never tried to make anything wif diecast models and 2 days ago i decided to improve my Merc SL 300 year 1954 (burago) its 1:24 scale.

I made it cabrio by now, changed wheels smoothened up for painting, engine from viper, new seats.

It is still be in progress and im gna finish it soon so here u go some pics:

Unfortunately i haven't got the picture of the original car but i found identical one the onlya diffrence was that mine was black not grey.

Original:

Progres:

1) detached body (removed lights roof doors, and some other stuff )

2) Over each wheel arch there was an old styled fender sticking out i decided to remove it so:

here is the origninal state:

Here is the removed one:

3) engine, chasis:

4) door, doorway:

5) wheel, seats:

6) overal view (construction):

thnx for ur attention! comments are very welome and needed, so as critisims and advises.

Why did you cut the top off?

Funny how the quality of the pictures gets progressively worse as you scroll down the page.

But why did you remove the frame for the windscreen? Even if you wanted to make in a convertible it doesn't make any sense. Lookin good so far though.

I hope it turns out good. If not, that will be a waste of a very beautiful car.

Re: Mercedes SL 300 (1954) -> Roadster

well i didn't liek th construction and wanted to make the car more aggressive and the roof gave it more classical neat look...concernin windscreen frame i made it at first shorter and then somethin went wrong and i had to cut it completely but i'll proly restore that one.

maybe some ideas on how to make car luk more beautiful? thnx in advance (please don't say i should throw everything away and buy a new model )

Re: Mercedes SL 300 (1954) -> Roadster

For the holes use some Tamiya epoxy putty quick type, or use Bondo body filler.
