Exclamation Always sliding....

I have an '03 GT with stock tires. (I believe they are Goodyear ZR45 but not sure) Whenever i "nail" it not just from a dead stop, but also from 1st to 2nd, the car loses grip or slides around turns even when the street is completly dry with 0% humidity. Anyone recommend a different brand tire, i heard Yokohama's had really good grip, any other suggestions?

I've got a 2001 V6 that does the same thing turning (course, only in first gear) and I've got Yokohamas on it. It's just the gift of rear wheel drive. The only thing I can say is wait till you're straight before you open her up. (Also, never floor it in rain. I did that one time and spun the tires going 50 mph on the interstate. Scary.)

Welcome to driving a V-8! I have sticky 275/40ZR17's on the back of mine, and I have upgraded my suspension, and I can slide corners.

A hard 1-2 shift will cause the rear axle to hop slightly with stock suspension, causing traction loss. Mine used to do so on a 3-4 powershift until I upgraded to HPMotorsport Lower control arms.

That said, some of the stickiest Z rated street tires out there are Nitto's, BFG's, and I've heard really good things about Kumho Ecsta tires.

Re: Always sliding....

Power slides a great wonder of v8 and rear wheeldrive combination. Its fun aint it. I use Winston Winner Gts (go ahead and laugh) but the work for my big bird I don't know about stangs.
