New guy

Ok I'm new at tunning Honda's, I personaly drive a G20 but my girlfriend has a 2k Prelude and wants me to give her some advice on how to make it quicker. I'm not trying to brake into the 10's or anything I just want some advice on the best I/H/E setup for her to use, and any kind of free/lowcost hop ups you guys can suggest. Thanks in advance for any info ya'll can give.

what's up? welcome to PH. you should trade your G20 for her prelude. that's what you should do.

anyway, how much are you willing to spend on the prelude? for intake there's AEM, there's iceman. most would tell you to get the AEM which cost $200 roughly. others do custom intakes, which cost less than an AEM. for header, the most popular one for preludes is a 4-2-1 design by DC sports. mugen also makes one for preludes, but it's pretty expensive. the DC sports should do you fine if you choose to get an aftermarket header. some would suggest you stick with your factory header. you won't get a significant gain on your 00 lude with changing the header. a number of companies make cat-backs for prelude. popular ones include the apexi n1, greddy evo, racing medallion, and thermal research. myself, i have the n1 which looks good, decent increase in the high end, although it is pretty loud. any of these mods are easy to install bolt-ons which you can do yourself in your driveway to save some cash. from the manufacturer you'll pay about a grand for all of these. and can expect about a 15 hp gain from all three mods. hope this helps some. i'm sure others will chip in their thoughts.

Welcome to PH/AF!
Out of personal preference, I would choose the AEM CAI, DC 4-2-1 Headers, and exhaust... I don't know. There's too many to choose from, but I've heard Greddy makes a good one, as well as many other companies. I would probably choose the Tanabe Racing Medallion because I heard it sounds really good.

hey del, did your N1 come with a silencer? Is it effective?

no i had to order one separately. it does quiet it down considerably. but personally i dont' like how it sounds when it is on, it's kind of a light farty sound. ewww. i've used it maybe once a very long time ago. without it, it's loud but still sounds good you know?

Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice. I will probably tell her to get the AEM intake and Greddy Evo exhaust since I have heard good things on bothe of those companies. It sucks that there isn't much increase with the headers but I guess that means that Honda did a good job to begin with. And as for trading in my G, I don't think so I love my car and only like hers but I will admit the lude can definitly whip my ass on the street, but I'm working on that

Yeah, I've heard the n1 makes a pretty good sound. Do you know how it compares to the Racing Medallion? I've heard a lot of good stuff about that.
