Slipping course :(
Civic1.6 16v and I went to a slipping course yesterday, and today I noticed my rear wheels make a strange sound now. I probably didn't hear it yesterday because of the hard rain. It’s a kind of zooming sound. I think it’s something with the bearings… braking doesn’t affect the sound, speed difference and cornering does. I think I can’t charge the ‘slipping course company’ prodrive with it, they very likely will say it’s because of the age of my car (just 6 years) and ‘normal’ wear. I’m kinda p i s s e d about it.
Sorry I didn't tell you all what we've done, I'm not in the mood... well okay, I'll do. We had some braking tests on a special prepared slippery road. There they showed us the difference in braking distence needed with 40 and 60 km/h. And it's true, it makes a big difference. We also drove in a 'kom-baan', a piece of track with steepy made bends in it (60 degrees!!!), driving this at low speeds felt realy weird, like you could fall out of your car. When driving at high speeds it really felt great, you can drive 120 km/h through the bend with no needs for steering. We also did a slalom course with 18 people. Cicic 16v1.6i was about 0.7 sec. faster (total about 21 / 22 sec) , we were not the fastes, but were in the upper part of the list . not to bad compared with a 206 with a modified 406 2 liter engine in it (170-180 horses) who was first. We also drove a drove in some kind of circle... we had to maximize the speed till the car get's oversteared. Only my car doesn't get's oversteared but understeared, so I made some 360's. I think that's where I damaged my (probably) bearings. I there hit some bumbs near the road, sideways(?). We couldn't make any pictures, it was prohibited to make them!! We made some 'sneaky' pictures but they are not really spectacular.

Just like Accord said above.
![]() We wanted to make some pics, but when I asked Accord to make some pics of me we were in the same team to do the test. So neither of us could make a pic of a Honda slipping and turning ![]() I made some pics of a Peugeot slipping, but nobody in here is waiting to see a Peugeot, right? Maybe I have some pics when we have an AF Europe Forum Meeting

Sounds like it was a nice and good experience (except for the little problem on your car AccordCE8) do you really learn stuff there? like getting out of a bad slip or is it just good fun with a bit of "oh I didn't know that" thingies?
BTW, what's a Peugeot :finger: |

pqugeot is not my choice 2, I wouldn't buy it, never! but did you now you can buy a new 106 gti for €15000 ?? Complete with (nice) spoilers, automatic windows, etc. in about 8.5 sec. to 100 km/h !
Just one minute ago I heard that friend of mine with the peugeot 106 is going to change it for a new gti. Hmmm... i'm going to be the slowest of all now... I must buy a new car like everyone else!!! AAHHHH

106
Hi, I am the guy who is trading in his trusty 1.1i for the GTi!
I went to the ANTI-slip course with AccordCE8 and Civic 1.6i and I must say it really opened my eyes!I used to drive way too close behind other people, as they ALWAYS drive too slowly (you know what it's like!) (of niet AccordCE8!), now I use the '2-second' rule... Personally I like Peugeot; not all of them, but the latest models? Yeah!! And I don't think you can compare Hondas with the Pugs. Why? They are meant for totally different kinds of driving! Honda's are very good cars, especially on a straight line (i.e. highways) whereas Pugs are more the car for rallye-style driving; which I myself find rather interesting Oh, a well oiled GTi with one person and half a tank of gas can do 0-60 mph in 7.4 secs (Evo-magzine numbers!) Perhaps we can have a meeting here in Holland between you lot and the guys from www.peugeotperformance.com ?? Let me know (oh, and MasterG? Try a 607, you'll be full before you have half of it finished! )Greetings my Honda-fans! Sidney |

Hey, nice some Peugeot feedback!
First of all, I have nothing against Peugeots I was just playing before, I kinda like the 106 I have driven several and it's a nice semi-fast car, the new GTI is very nice and the price tag is not bad at all. I can't say I really like the 206 but the 406 coupe is a real beauty. You said Honda's are good on straight lines, sure they can do that quite well but Honda's "specialty" is cornering, ever seen an ITR at the track? Even my old '88 1.3 Civic had double wishbone suspension. And, not everyone will agree with me here but I don't think that the type of sport the manufacturer is in has anything to do with the road cars they produce, those rally cars only look the same it's a totally different car. If you ride your Honda and Peugeot in the dirt, they both suck ![]() I'm not trying to flame your post or anything just telling my opinion. nice to have a Peugeot man on the board here

IMO you can compare Hondas and Peugeots very well because actually most of the street versions of both brands are ff and not 4WD or fr! Only the Peugeot Rally car is built for real rallies as far as I know but you won´t find it on the streets. But I agree that they have got some nice looking cars. The only thing I don´t really like is their engines! They seem kind of "unreliable" to me and especially the bigger, more sporty engines (like the 3.0l V6 with 207hp of the 406 Break Sport, Coupe, or 607) accelerate really "slow" for their size and the weight of their chassis! They are only good for top-speed thus for the highways. ( I don´t want to imagine how fast a Accord V6 Coupe would be with a manual tranny! Engine-specs are the same except for the auto-tranny.)I know the Evo magazine very well too because a friend of mine has ordered it. It´s a very nice magazine but I wonder under what conditions they´re taking the numbers of the cars?? IMO it´s impossible to reach their acceleration numbers if you´re not a well trained driver. I saw some of their videos and the driver was definetly "well trained"! He was driving through corners with I dunno what speed while talking to the camera to his left (most of the time with a big grin in his face ).

Nice to see some feedback Sidney, and in response, well actually Bracer said it all, I agree 100% with him. Peugeot are nice cars, but they don't have the engine reliability of Honda. I love the 406 Coupe though, beautiful car
As for Hondas being only a highway car, I strongly disagree, they're at home on corners, hence the quality suspension. Nice to hear from you though, stick around
