what it takes?

alright guys, thanx for the thoughts on converting to v8...now i was wondering what all the conversion would entail, new exhaust i know, and i would imagine the v8 can bolt to the v6 engine mounts...?if any of ya have done this before them please give me a list of what i'll have to be swaping out...oh and if ya would give me an estimate of how much it'll cost me.
thanx

bellhousing
rear-end
driveshaft
engine mounts
pullies
belts

computer
all computer fixings (connectors and such)
possibly new clutch/gas/brake linkage (depends)

shocks
might want to run a bigger tire too..
and might need some stuff done to your speedo/tach and stuff.

its really not all that expensive if you did it yourself.

Re: what it takes?

Get a junked V8 car from a junkyard and I'd go carb. because it will be easier to hook up.(about 1/2 the worries)

Re: what it takes?

yea, i'd be doing the work myself...um, if i bought lets say, a wrecked 96 stang w/ a v8 in it, all the stuff in the engine bay could bolt straight into my 94 engine bay, or would i have to make room for stuff?

'96s dont' have 5.0s, they have 4.6s. try and find a wrecked '94 or '95 as a donor. with that, all the major engine compartment stuff should just be bolt-in. you will need to do suspension work as well, so keep that in mind.

front springs to support the additional weight of the motor, struts to keep them in control. possibly rear springs and shocks. i don't know if this applies to sn95 cars, but in fox chassis cars, the spindles are different sizes between the different motors. i know if you do a 4-banger to v8 swap you have to run bigger spindles to accomodate bigger brakes. you might also have to swap the k-member if the motor mounts aren't the same, which they probably aren't. fox owners are lucky because the 4-banger k-member is the same as the v-8 equivalent. 6-banger fox owners aren't so lucky.
