so i have a 91 mustang 5.0 conv. automatic, so far i have gotten a ram air induction kit for my ram air hood, got c&l 76mm mass air flow sensor and inlet pipe, a 70mm throttle body by bbk, a set of bbk's shorty headers, bassani x-pipe, flowmaster cat back exhaust, and march underdrive pulleys. i also rebuilt my rear end with 373 gears, traction lok rebuild kit and rear end rebuild kit, now my question to the readers out there is why my time came out at a 15 flat?????????? i thought i would have hit the 14s at least! why am i slow? i drove two runs, first was 15.2 and second was 15.0 and i do not know if i should get a new shift kit and torque converter or get a cobra intake manifold, or does any one out there have some suggestions on what i should do to my baby?

Re: is my time normal? wat can i do? HELP!
Loose some weight. conv cars weigh alot more than non-converts. Loose some weight, remove spare tire, backseat, ect. Then try 1.7 rr's and a edelbrock Performer EFI intake. From what I see you have done to your car, the Performer would be best fit for your car, since you still have stock cam and heads and arent turning more than probably 5000-5500rpms. The roller rockers will add a little valve lift. You may want to look into the whole Performer RPM EFI kit, comes with heads, intake, and cam.

What do you 60 ft times look like? can you post your entire time slip?
Second of all you have an auto and a vert, 2 very big things going against you right there. Spend a little time on weight reduction and transmission mods, and you should see and improvement.

Are you getting traction off the line? If you are standing on the gas pedal at the line that could be a problem.

your 60 ft makes your 1/4 mile time. like my car on pump gas if I get a crappy 60 foot (2.1-2.3 I will run like a 12.2-12.3 at 112 MPH. If I get a good '60 (1.87-1.71) I will run 11.90-11.80's at the same MPH.

Re: is my time normal? wat can i do? HELP!
Where are you located at? The conditions and altitude at which you're racing at can make a difference. Since you're in a slushbox, that won't help either. Drop a T5 or put in a good shift kit; Ford AODs are the worst to go racing in.

Even wit vert and auto I would expect better times with ya mods.... like mid 14's. What are your 60 fooot times. They could answer this all....

Re: is my time normal? wat can i do? HELP!
Torque converter for sure!!!!!
Typically for every tenth you reduce your 60 ft's by, you will reduce your 1/4 mile time by two tenths. So if you ran a 15 sec 1/4 mile time, and you reduce your 60 ft's from 2.3 to 2.0, you will net a 14.4 1/4 mile time, roughly.

Also typically for every 100lbs you loose you run a tenth quicker in the 1/4.

Re: is my time normal? wat can i do? HELP!
Insulation, replace deck lid, aluminum wheels over solid steel chrome wheels, ditch the power crap ex. power seats/windows, racing seats, depends on how much interior you want left. Inner fenders dont weigh that much but alot of people take them out. Just whatever you can think of that you dont want/need.
