To swap the reverse gears, you would have to take out the tranny and open it up to have access to the gears.
Unless you have already done this and know for sure that the gears are the same,I say don't do it,just swap the tranny.

Unhappy Swapping gears

I believe you can just take the tranny apart and take his reverse. If he's getting a new motor, why dont u just take the whole tranny?? or did i misread it?

I'm not sure but maybe the diff gearing is higher on the dx,meaning you'll rev less on the highway and have a higher top speed, but I'm not sure about that.

Unhappy gearing

I think you will have more top speed yeah. I hit 80 MPH in third while my friend in his DX hits well over 92 MPH. So i guess in a way it could make it slower but you would be able to keep the speed in each gear longer. Im not real sure though.

Ok i told this guy that i'm getting a dx tranny for free. He said he thinks it won't fit cause its a 1.5 liter? I told him all d-series should fit. Its from an 89 hb. I just wanna make sure if it does fit...so is he rite or wrong?

D-series are interchangeable, except for 88 which had different input shaft spline,if I remember correctly.

Yeah another friend of mine says he has a 91 si trans. So he's gonna give it to me but the thing is i think he said the bell housing is chipped so he's gonna switch gears for me. I told him that my 2nd ,3rd and 5th gear is bad also. So i guess we gonna switch all those gears also plus with a jdm final drive ratio of 4.44
