My LHS stocks several sets. To me they don't look very realistic.
The advantage may be ease of assembly over the traditional belt and buckle assembly methods.

Yeah, I somehow can't easily imagine a bent piece of brass looking alot like a seatbelt. It's too easy to cut them out of paper. Besides, I think that the prepainted thing is just goofy- even if it did look great, I don't think I would use anything prepainted like that. It just doesn't seem to sit right with why I build models instead of buy diecasts.

Re: eduard models seatbelts accesories...

Well, one opinion on the other side:

I think they look great, all the hardware is there, just like in other pe sets and, it may be that the painted belts look far more realistic then some ribbon/paper available, with half the work (also, the belt material is very flexible). If there is one shortcoming, is the fact that thay donīt extend to the rear, so they will be suitable for closed sport prototypes and the likes.
After all, I think they are a welcome alternative (for those who only saw the drawings/photos, they donīt make justice to the final product at all).

(btw, Studio27 also has pe seatbelts).
