what oil to use?

okay, here is my question, i have a 1995 GT that has just gotten to the 75,000 mile mark, i changed the oil at 72,000 and used Mobil 1(10w-30) Synthetic, the question is, should i change to a different oil for high mileage engines, or am i safe sticking to Mobil 1 synthetic? What suggestion do you have on the kind of oil i should use. Any help you can give me will be much apreciated. Thanks.

I wouldnt bother switching if I were you. As long as you change oil and filter every 3,000 and use a street oil(like 10w-30 vs. say 20w50), you'll be fine. I never change oil grade with mileage and have never had a problem.

Re: what oil to use?

I think synthetic's are the biggest waste of money. I use conventional 10w-40 and change my oil every 2800-3000, no questions asked. As long as you do regular oil changes, conventional will be all you need.

Synthetics do stand up to thermal breakdown better but it gets dirty just like regular oil from normal use. It will be just as dirty as regular oil at 3,000 miles. Save the money and just change the oil regularly like you should.
