I was told, and have heard rumors that replacing the stock Air Filter with one from K&N can gum up the MAFS and cause problems with idling and engine performance. Is this true or is this the dealerships trying to keep me in their pockets?

Only if you over oil the filter as far as i know, i run a Green Filter, smae thing as K&N and it warns right on the package to no tover oil. I know a few guys running the k&n in their Hyundai's with absolutely no problems.

Re: K&N Filters and the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS)
Will a K&N panel filter, using stock air box, void warranty?
Does this make any true noticable difference, or do I have to install the Cold Air Intake to notice a difference? I haven't read the warranty T&C's, does a CAI void warranty? |

no the air filter itself is not covered under warranty in the first place so youre good. You will see slight improvements from a drop in but not huge. A CAI will give you better increases but may affect your warranty depending on your dealer. Ask them.

Re: K&N Filters and the Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS)
My 99 came with a K&N from the previous owner. Have had no problems with it. Highly recommend one.
