Re: Smoking in Public

research paper = YOU look stuff up
survey for research paper = you ask a specific question pertaining to your topic

i'm pretty sure that the majority of us here are not experts in the health field and can therefore not be counted as credible sources.

but as far as an opinion goes: if people want to smoke, let them. as long as i don't have to suffer through the smell of bad cigs while i'm walking around

Re: Smoking in Public

I think outdoor areas are fair game. Any open public area with good ventilation I can't really see the problem with. As for disposing of the butts and being considerate of others (eg. expecting mothers), I think smokers have a long way to go.

Re: Re: Re: Smoking in Public

If you want to smoke, then do it in your own home. Why you need to make everyone around suffer through the stench, especially if it gets on your clothes. the health effects are another, but the chances of the contact with it for that short amount of time and it doing damage is minimal. If most smokers were more considerate of their surroundings, it probably would be such a problem, but when they blow smoke your way, or sit there and watch you cough as there smoke blows into your face, and then wonder why youg et all pissed at them, thats a problem. until they can learn to be considerate of others, like Oz pointed out, they can do it in there own home.

I do my best
If I know there won't be any ashtrays, I even have an empty film canister sometimes for the butts. Like at the beach or snow.

Re: Smoking in Public

Smoking outdoors or in your own house or vehicle I don't have a problem with. It's no worse than the pollutants cars put out and far less than the ones factories put out. Smoking indoors in a public setting around other people is wrong.

I have the occasional bad allergies and don't like to be in the direct line of smoke. But if I'm out at a bar or club I expect it and therefore it doesn't bother me. It does bother me though when people don't give a shit and blow smoke right in your face. I say let people smoke. They know the harmfulness of it. I'm not too worried about second hand smoke, almost everything these day's can cause cancer so why blame it solely on the smokers its stupid.
