finally raced a Tiberon

One guy was chillin with his nice blue Tib. Hood open, mass bluse wires, Injen intake and sweet sounding exaust (found out later when he followed me to the street where we raced) He was telling his friend how he would race anything when I walked up, so I asked if he wanted to take on a 240sx. Aparently he smoked a nismo 240 thats in his club...so I was intrigued by this GT he had.

We went out, rolling up to the line I looked over, he looked cocky as the flager (his buddy) lined us up. I brought the RPM to 4,5K and as the flaggers hand went down I sliped the clutch, rolling into the throddle I Jumped past him, my RWD schooling his FWD and my reaction giving me even more of a jump, but as I let off the clutch I lost traction, up untill 7K rpm. Then it happened....I couldnt get into second, I reved and slamed and it didnt go...I tried again, now he was past me by a car, and got it... kicking it slightly sideways, and grabing traction all in the time of a heartbeat I spooled up instantly and caught up at 6K rpm, and by the time I shifted at 7.5K he was about two lenghts behind, third and he was a speck in my rearview...it was over.

He thought I had nothing under the hood, it was awesone....eventhough it was still too stock to be a match, it was a fun as hell race and the guy was equally cool too.

not bad for a slow night

I was talkin to the guy about his Tib, he wondered which way he should go, turbo or SC and I told him SC all the way, power across the powerband, and its several grand less.

Nice kill

No car goes over 200mph easily - its takes one hell of a lot of engineering.

Re: finally raced a Tiberon

Someone has had to make a twin turbo tib. I have heard of a guy who put two 4 bangers in his tiberon. At a show he some how turned the rear engine around so first gear was going backwards for a burnout contest. He just ripped it until his tires gave up.

Good kill. What's the matter with your car that it won't shift to second. I hope to see you at Speedway.

It's really late and it's been a long time since I've even thought about Tiburons, so bear with me here...

The V6 tib has a weak main cap. Well, the main cap bolts to be exact. At around 250-300 whp it likes to rip the bolts free from the block, taking the cap and the engine with it. The problem is in the block itself where the cap attaches to the block, it's not an easy fix. For most people, you can probably make more power reliably out of the 4 cylinder than the V6.
