Angry This is going to be cruel!

I know this might change the perception of me to some of you, but like I really don't care. This, of course, is not to be taken personally, but something that I need to get off my chest.

Today at my company, 4 people were let go. A lot of the office is silent because of the 4 individuals that were released. While being laid off is not the most pleasant experience, I am so happy for it, I am celebrating tonight.

Now for my explanation. As most people know, Corporate America nowadays is not how it used to be. Basically to get anywhere, you have to kiss ass or meet a certain criteria. In my company, which the upper management is predominantly white, race plays a very key role in how far in your career you'll go. I am one individual who has been categorized by my nationality in here and thus, has prevented me from making more money, regardless of my qualifications. Two intances I have been overlooked for less qualified candidates, and you guessed it, they were white. I don't find it as a coincidence since I have a few people in upper management who can attest to the fact. It turns out that the 4 individuals released were some of the worst players in this cruel and unpractical practice in this company. For 3 yrs I've had to put up with certain peoples shit and see certain people released for bogus reasons. Through it all, I'm told it was business.

Turns out now that since these individuals were released, upper management that is left is at an uproar over it. Saying it wasn't fair. That wasn't professional. More comments of that nature. Funny how when the shoe is on the other foot, it doesn't quite feel right, does it?

I've been an avid admirer of the expression "Don't shit on people, it tends to splatter." I am a very partial person to everyone that comes to me. I treat everyone with the same amount of respect, till you prove otherwise. I give people the benefit of the doubt, regardless of what some may say about them. But through this all, the emotion that I am going through right now is most pleasurable. Now, I know this does not seem appropriate. I shouldn't laugh at another person's misfortune. I just have this to say to those that may say this to me.

HOW ABOUT THE MISFORTUNE AND BS THAT I'VE BEEN PUT THROUGH!!

I only say these things because of what these people prevented me from acheiving. I used to love coming to work and all. Now, it's like I'm new again. I might not leave, unless after the dust settles, something comes up that warrants my departure. I want to leave this with something for you to think about.

If you are someone that is in a high position and has employees under you, remember this, these people have lives too. They need just as much as you. You can't expect 100% from someone you only give 5%. While this job is a major factor in my bitterness towards people around me, I try to keep it within myself. Let this be a lesson to those who choose to abuse their powers at the expense of someone less fortunate.

Sounds like a good thing that those asswipes are not with the company anymore. I can only hope this gives you another opportunity to move up the ladder as it should have been to start with.

Have a virtual beer on me!

Thanks peeps. I won't know for sure yet. A lot of things need to be cleared up as to who now inherits the additional responsibilities. It is then that I will see where I fall.

Thanks Yogs!!

I believe everything happens for a reason. It is very sad that so much discrimination takes place in the work world. Whether its race, gender, disability etc...why can't society overlook those things and focus on whether you can get the job done or not...which is what really matters.

I can understand your frustration and reason for wanting to "celebrate" however I wouldn't go setting off fireworks after dark though I also believe for every wrong committed against you, that person(s) will get it back twice as bad at some point down the road...even if you aren't there to see it.

For me personally, when I go thru a bad time, I try to look at it as a learning experience and try to see what I can do better or if I need to do or handle things differently.

DVS, I hope this means change and a new beginning for you as far as your career goes. Hopefully this will be a lesson for the upper management that's left to re-think the way things are being run.

There a picture on the wall of my office..........

If a tree falls in the middle of a deserted forest, does it still make a sound?

Underneath, someone has written......If middle management all got laid off, would production ever notice?

In my line of work ,management see themselves as the company heroes. In truth, they make nothing, sell nothing, and do very little,so they are a drain on company profits.Management jobs are like haemorrhoids.Sit around for long enough and eventually you will get one.But only if you are an asshole.

Don't be uncomfortable about celebrating..most junior management is superfluous anyway.

Hehehe, true that. My dad started his own business because he was tired of middlemanagement BS and inefficency and decided that he could do better being his own manager. He seems to be enjoying it a whole lot more without the dumbasses around.

I would like to ask you one thing before I continue, do you have any clue as to how hard it is to find a well paying job while maintaining a household? If not, keep your sarcasm to yourself.

As for everything else, I celebrated last night, got high as fuck. Not that it was all that, but it feels good. Today being a new day, my attitude is such that, I am looking at this as water under a bridge. Funny thing though, this morning when I came in, there was a voice mail on my phone. I checked it out and it turns out to be one of the people that were layed off. The message went on for about 8 mins. He was apologizing for all the grief and BS he put me through, admitted he needed help and really didn't want the things that happened, to happen. He was very sorry, kinda sounded like he was crying or tearing over the phone. Which brings me to my point that I originally stated. When you do dirt, you get dirt back. Why did it have to take you losing your job for you to realize that what you are doing is wrong? I am not a bad person, once you get to know me. The only time I get nasty is when you do something towards me that merits it. Well, it still doesn't change his employment outlook here.

So this goes out to you, Mr.&(*^(&^(*, apology accepted. I hope you find a new job and work on the error of your ways.
