302 stroke

if i use a stock 351W crank to stroke a 302, what is the resulting displacement? what rod lenghth would i need? would stock pistons work?

Re: 302 stroke

The formula for Cubic Inch Displacement is:
CID=# of cyl. X 0.7854 X bore X bore X stroke.
So, a 302 with a 351 crank is:
CID=8 x 0.7854 x 4 x 4 x 3.5
You would end up with 351ci. Im not sure of rod or piston length/height. Im not sure but I'd say it would take a good bit of machining to make this work. Cut down counter weights, and some releifs in the block with some good balancing. You would probably be better of for durability and the $ it would cost to just buy a 351.

Your not going to use a 351W crank in a 302 block. Just forget it right now! If you want to know completely why do a search. There is a long thread about this we did a long time ago.
