track or the street?

which do you guys like best, i'll tell you my opinion. the track is what i call proof, you find your reall times there, and yet when i'm at the track i don't find mysef racing the next guy but just trying to beat my last time. its safe and there are lots of other cars. but with street racing no matter how dangerous it is it is lots more fun then the track.my adrenaline really gets pumpin when i'm on the street and race a big v8 or a 300zxtt, its more of a who has the most powerful car, and owning people, taking there pride when there girl is in the car with em. i just like the street best.

i know some of you are even against street racing(even though this is a street racing forum) so give your opinions

Re: track or the street?

I'd have to go with street...seeing as how I'm too far away from a track.
The only things that track offer from streets is the safety, well a little more safety than street. You can calculate time with these new gizmo's coming out these days, plus street racing is where all the fun is, racing down the street, avoiding cars and cops, impressing tha ladies and the huge adrenaline rush ya get from all of it

Re: track or the street?

The track. At the track, not only do ya get to actually see what your car/truck will do, you get to see real race cars. And seeing them will give you a new definition of fast.

Of course I am biased towards the track because I have a race car, lol. 1972 Chevrolet Vega, highly modified, 406 small block Chevy with about 600 horsepower, nothing stock about it: 4.20s in 330 ft. @ about 88-90 mph.

Re: track or the street?

The way the car is set up right now it could never make the trip in 1/4. Has .513 gear and powerglide tranny. It would make it, but I've got a rev limiter for it at 7000 rpms, so it would not be to its full potential.

With a .456 gear, it probably would run 9.90s or 10.00s (I mean 10 zeros, not just 10s in general) at probably 125-130 mph or so.

With this engine, I've never had it to an 1/8 mile track yet, but with a 355 that ran 4.50s in 330 ft, it ran 6.71 @ 101 mph in the 1/8th so I'd guess 6.40s or MAYBE 6.30s with the 406 at about 108 or 109 mph.

Re: Re: track or the street?

i would also say street.. one for the rush of it all and the suprize of the car that you run into also because i have to go to n.j. for a track.. but if they did have a track close to my house i would be there... but i think that most of us do street racing b/c its easier, when you feelin a little cocky u can just drive around and find sum one to race instead of travling to the track, and i dont know about others but for me its a good way of stress release for me..

Re: track or the street?

I prefer the chaotic factor of street racing. Being able to make split second decisions on roads is more impressive imho. Track is for those who want perfect conditions. Not that that's bad.

I like both, but gotta give it to tha streets yo! This is my typical street racing atmosphere...... you have 80 or so cars sitting on the side on the road, and another 30 lined up behind you, and about 150 or so people watching to see if you can take the car beside you when the guy in front of you hands drop in about an 1/8th a mile. You adreniline is pumping so hard that your foot is shaking and you can barely hold the clutch in. You realize at any moment that a cop/cops could pull up and give you a huge ticket and take your car. You thinking to yourself how much you DONT wanna lose that $50 you just put on the line because you were feeling like a cocky mother #%#@er around your buddies. Not to mention worring about missing a damn shift. And the worst part, most of the races i go to dont have any 5.0L mustangs racing, i'm the only one, that plays a big part in being nervous because you HAVE to win or else make 'stangs look like big piles of shit. Lot of pressure, but damn its fun!

Re: track or the street?

I used to street race every friday and sat night, then one of my best friends who i went with everyweekend, died from a horrible car accident. Now i go to the track. the only way I race on the street is if there is a ricer and i need to flip the nitrous switch to show him up infront of his wookie girlfriend.

I do street race as far as if I'm at a light and the right car and circumstances stuff. But as far as this organized street racing shit.... no way!

I like having my license and not having my car impounded. The track is where it is at, real times, real proof, no tickets.
