Possible new contest:

After this custom contest dies down, I am considering organizing another contest.

Don't fret folks, not a real big deal.

It's a poseur car contest.

You know, that fool down the street with his 4 cyl mustang and a fartcan tht calls his car "the black death."

Or the guy at the McDonalds with a 4 door Civic clad in Type R badges and carbon fiber decals on the doors.

Can we do it? Can we bring ourselves to throw everything we have, wholeheartedly into an ugly bastard of a car that we honestly think looks good? Can we sleep at night with the DOHC VTEC sticker on our Jeep Cherokee? (Not making that part up, honest!) Can we fool people with our NOS decal next to a flame graphic near the Enkei sticker on an Eclipse riding on stock 13 steelies?

Ok, so I'm not really doing the contest. I've got too many serious models on my upcoming list... but I have to say I've been really tempted to build a Civic with the bumpers still in primer, the panels all ill fitting, and blinking in a ludacrous display of lighting that would make a Sci-Fi modeller wince.

Everyone here has the talent, who has the balls?

Re: Possible new contest:

If you enter the contest with a ricer or whatever I will down grade one of my models in the poseur contest. It's no fun if the thought person doesn't participate.

We've all seen these nasty cars. I think it would be cool because it takes the mind off being a perfectionist. In modelling it would be too easy to go overboard into non-sense wild. I wouldn't mind doing a contest on ricer/ugly cars that are actually out there on the roads.

i whould enter it, i whould go out and buy a revell civic and build it like one thats here in town, it used to be a nice blue civic si, but he put the uglyist bodykit on it and the front bumper is primer red the side skirts are primer white and the rear bumper is flat black with grey slotches all over it and there is no hood on it. it has stock exhaust stock engine with yellow hoses, and a cone filter on the stock intake tube only one altezza tail light the other is stock, and he has some very nice 17's in the rear but stock stilies up front. the bad thing is the guy is actually my friend, lol. he says its a show stopper in-progress, but it has been that way for 7 months, he also seems to think its the fastist car in the world, lol. if this contest happens i will be building it for sure, and then after the contest is over i will sell it to him as a replica model, lol.

Re: Possible new contest:

sounds kick ass, i've got a dodge daytona in the planning stages that i think would fit perfectly for this contest. It's ugly and got a V8 but it's front wheel drive.

Re: Possible new contest:

I was planning on doing one of these "poser streetracer" cars as a joke for our car show in November, since 'tuners' is a permanent class now.

The worse it looks the better I think. Kind of like a modern day rat rod..
